Amelias POV
Ellie has been in school for 3 weeks now and it's a Thursday. She loves it she says. She has made some friends and is always excited to talk about her day. She is pretty strong in math though and I have no idea where she got it from because I hated school up until I graduated medical school.
Tomorrow night Arizona is coming over again for dinner. Last week when she had Sofia the 4 of us got together 3 nights to make dinner and we head to go back to our own houses since the girls had school
They are definitely starting to become what I want to call is friends. Ellie ask to see Sofia sometimes and when they are together they play nicely.
Every since I told Arizona about me being an addict I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I don't feel like I'm hiding anything anymore. She doesn't know about Ryan though. I mean she knows Ellie's father is dead but not what killed him and I'm not sure I'm ready for that conversation. Talking with Ellie about it was hard enough
Ellie was at school right now and I was at the hospital. This week has been so busy for us. I haven't seen Arizona since Sunday since our schedules are so messed up so I'm really looking forward to seeing her tonight. And we have gotten pretty good at being quiet... and have the tv up loud enough
I just scrubbed out of a 4 hour surgery and I had 2 hours before my next one.
Ellie still stays with Lena after school. It's kind of like an after school program since Lena is the assistant principal but it's works for us all and I usually get home around 4:40- 5 to get Ellie
"Amy" I heard behind me and tuned around to face Derek
"Hey" I smile and keep walking. I have limited time and I'm starving and tired so he just has to keep up
"So moms coming to town" he says and I stop and he walks past me but turns around
"What?" I ask, I haven't seen this women in over 10 years
"She's coming to dinner tomorrow and wants to see you" he says and I smile
"I have plans already" I say.
"Amy come on" he says ans I sigh
"No Derek. I haven't seen her since before Ellie was born. She has never met her granddaughter and I have plans with Arizona tomorrow night" I say
"Bring Arizona. You know either way she will find you while she is up here" he says and I bow my head in defeat
"I'm not promising anything. I'll see what Arizona wants to do" I say and walk past him to the lounge, I'm too tired to worry about him right now
I decided on not going to the lounge to eat, Instead I went straight to an on-call room to sleep while I could
As soon as I laid down someone's opened the door letting all the light in
"Shut the door" I say a little more mean than I had meant too
"Someone's having a bad day" I hear the familiar voice say and I sit up to find Arizona standing in the door way
I jumped up and took her into a hug and gave her a kiss
"I missed you" she says
"I missed you too" I say and we go lay down together
"How long do you have?" I ask
"About an hour" she says and I smile contently
"So I have to talk with you about something" I say, my head laying on her chest
"Okay" she says hesitantly
"Derek told me my mothers in town and wants us to come to dinner tomorrow" I say
"Ames Hunny you and Ellie can go, we can just do our night another time" she says and kisses my head
"We'll- um, you see. I dont want to go but Derek said to bring you. So" I say
"You want me to meet your mom?" She ask and I sigh
"Yes, no- I mean.. my moms a bitch. No beating around the bushes. She hates me, she has never met Ellie and I haven't seen her in over a decade" I say
"Oh, okay. Well I will do whatever you want to" she says and I smile
"I don't want her to say mean things to you. I can handle when she does to me but you're too important" I say and she smiles
"I'll be okay. If you want me to meet your mom I will" she says and I look up at her and give her a kiss
"I love you" I say against her lips
"I love you more" she says and gives me another kiss And I lay back down on her chest
Arizona's POV
About an hour later Amelia and I both had to go out separate ways to see our patients
She seems really upset about seeing her mom tomorrow and I just wish I could help. She gets off at 4 today and I don't get off until 9. I'm going to see if I can get Alex to cover for me so I can leave a little early to spend tonight with her. After not seeing her in days I'm sure we both are in need of some cuddle time
I went and scrubbed in with Wilson on my next surgery which lasted 5 hours and it was now 5 o"clock, I also noticed I haven't ate today when I stepped out of the OR feeling a little lightheaded
I updated the family that the surgery was a success and their son will be in recovery for a few days and will be able to go home and I went to the lounge to hopefully find Alex and I was right
Walking into the lounge it was only him and a box of pizza
"Can you cover the rest of my shift?" I ask walking over to him
"Sure" he says stuffing his face with pizza and I take a slice from his box
"Hey!" He exclaims
"I just scrubbed out of a 5 hour surgery and haven't ate today. I'm grumpy, tired and hungry" I say giving him a look and he backs down
"Take another" he says and I smile taking another piece of pizza
"You're the best Karev and I owe. You" I say walking out of the lounge with my pizza and getting into my car driving to Amelias
I ate the pizza while I drive to her house. I know not the safest way to drive but I was a indeed starving
When I got to her house and knocked on the door Ellie came and opened the door
"Arizona! You're here" she exclaims and I pick her up giving her a hug while he legs dangled in front of me and put her down
"I am, how was school?" I ask
"It was good, one of my friends Natalie has two moms like Sofia!" She tells me and I smile
"Does she now?" I ask she nods
"Yea, she is my best best friend and mommy said we can have a sleep over one day" she says excitedly and Amelia comes out, the hurt in her eyes, I'm assuming about her mother but acting as if she was fine for Ellie
"Ellie why don't you go draw me a picture with some butterfly's so I can put it in my office?" I ask and she lights up and runs back to the hall and I walk over to Amelia and pull her into me
"Hey, I love you" I say, knowing it what's she needed to hear
"I love you. Thank you for coming" she says and backs away
"Thought you had to work late?" She ask me
"I did but I wanted to come see you so Alex is taking over the rest of the day" I say and she smiles
"I'm so glad you're here"
