Escape [Jack Gilinsky] - HIATUS

chapter 15.

I wake up with the annoying noise of voices talking downstairs. Lazily I reach my phone to check the time, 6 a.m. Taylor does not have employees on this house so it only can be visits, but who the heck visits someone at this time in the morning? No one with common sense I think. The voices are too loud to let me sleep but I can't identify who they belong too. I get up from the bed and descend the stairs looking to see who is here. 

''You need to let her go, you guys tried and failed. You're ruining her okay? She's already unstable you don't need to mess her life even more'' Taylor complains. Is she talking about me? But with who? I try to not make any noise and wait for the unknown person to reply.

''I don't really care about your opinion, you don't boss me Taylor. I like her for real'' My heart races when I catch the voice. I am almost 100% sure I would recognize it even dead. The tone is harsh but I know how soft his voice is. Even though he's out of my sight I can tell that his jaw is clenched. Remembering the last five days we spent upset and the worst last two of them, when we didn't saw each others makes my chest ache. I want to see him but I also want to listen to the conversation because I know they will stop talking as soon as they find out I am up.

''I don't care if you like me or not but I love Claudia, she's like my little sister and you won't break her heart any more. And I know guys like you Jack. You don't do relationships, you mess around with random girls. That is you and you can't change it. And Claudia deserves the best'' I can't stay quiet anymore. I run through the few last stairs and they face me with shock.

''You should be sleeping...'' Taylor mumbles. I am so angry right now. 

''What the hell is going on?'' I ask and they both try to talk at the same time. ''What are you doing here Jack?'' I feel tears prick my eyes due to seeing again. 

''I came to see you Clauds'' My body shivers when he says my nickname, I can't control the effect he has on me. ''Can we please talk?'' He begs. I want to say yes but I look to Taylor. She's looking to me and Jack back and forth with her arms crossed above her belly.

''Outside'' I say and walk quickly to the door. I can hear Jack's footsteps behind me and that's the only thing that makes me sure he's following. I let him get out first and then I close the door.

''I'm sorry'' He blurts out as soon as we're alone. He tries to hug me but I pull away, I want to feel his hot skin against mine but I'm not ready yet. ''You're wearing my shirt'' He points out.

''Yeah I'm sorry I thought I had returned all your stuff. Yesterday I was really tired and didn't knew what I was dressing. I'll wash it and you can take it.'' I cross my arms above my chest when a wave of wind hits me.

''You must be freezing'' Jack takes his black coat and hands it to me. I accept it because the cold is almost unbearable. I almost forgot it's 6 a.m in a November day.

''Thanks'' We both shift uncomfortably. ''What happened Jack? What made you flight to here?'' I inquire.

''I just understood I can't stay away from you or mad at you Claudia. In case you haven't noticed I'm not the same since I met you okay? I need you, more than I thought it was possible, and don't even ask how because I don't know either. I've only known you for two months and I'm already in love, and it's amazing but sucks at the same time because I depend on you now and I hate to depend on people. And fuck, you just get me like I've never been gotten before.'' His hand runs his hair in desperation. He shuts his eyes and I take that moment to hug him tight.

''Please don't shut me out of your life again, I like you too. So much.'' I say against his sweater. Tears are falling from my eyes now, it amazes me how easy it is to Jack make me cry. ''Can we try to make this work harder this time?''
