It was so goddamn AWKWARD between Jan and Michael in the office! I mean, just LOOK at Michael trying to smile at the camera while he tries to turn off the phone from Todd Packer! I had to look away because it was getting unbearable. I really hope the documentary crew deletes this scene :0 :0
You can see the unwanted tension, and I was sitting right THERE! I knew that this was gonna prove cringy in the documentary. We have NO intention of being a cringe-comedy! :0 :(
It didn't help that Michael was trying to maintain gibberish discussion, saying things like, "Me no get an agenda" and "Me no wanna hear that, Jan" and "Yeppers".
Jan was like, "I'm sorry?" every time like she was on another planet. Obviously, I'm NOT stupid. She was 100 percent in film mode. She wanted to show the viewers that she was a true PROFESSIONAL representing the branch who had NO time to joke around with eccentric bosses. But she was supposed to be NATURAL! This would prove to the viewer that Michael and Jan had NO chemistry at all and were more like sworn enemies than friends :(
I hope this will be a temporary thing due to this being the pilot. I'm sure Jan will loosen up on camera and act the goofy way she always is around Michael. EVERYTHING about Michael is the same on camera as he is off camera, it's amazing. I worried that he would project himself as an overconfident man with a huge ego, but no. You can clearly see that the awkwardness is what makes him a loveable person.
Anyway, aside from THAT and Michael stalling about where the fax was and saying such Michael things like "Downsizing is a bitch" in front of Jan, the meeting ended with Jan telling Michael not to tell anyone, before leaving.
And that was the end of Jan's very short scene in the whole pilot. Let's hope it is PEACHES and CREAM from here! *crosses fingers*
