I walk towards William's office tentatively, very afraid of how he's going to act. I shot him, and I've been consumed with guilt. I can't believe I stooped so low.
"William? Can I come in?" I ask quietly, knocking on the door twice. I don't hear anything, but I'm sure he's in there, so I go inside anyways.
He has gray sweatpants that are hanging off his hips perfectly, framing his lean figure. His abdomen is covered in gauze, and I can see the red stains through the white layers. Nonetheless, his abs peek out from behind the tightly wrapped gauze and render me speechless. My eyes travel upwards to find him raising an eyebrow.
"William, you could atleast reply with a no if you didn't want me to come in," I frown.
He doesn't respond, and sits down at his desk and begins to type rapidly. I sigh, sitting on the desk in front of him.
"Really? Is the silent treatment going to do anything, except demonstrate your childishness?" I prod. Looking behind me at the desktop, I see what seems to be a story, before he closes the window and pulls up the database.
Getting frustrated, I slide the keyboard to the edge of the desk and sit in its place. Putting my bare legs on either side of him, resting on the chair, I lean forwards and look him in his unnerving hazel eyes.
"Stop. Ignoring. Me," I say confidently, my tone deadly.
He puts his hands on the back of my thighs and yanks me forwards, sending me tumbling into him. I'm now straddling his lap, with my hands on his firm chest.
"I'm the one who's being childish?" he whispers, sending chills down my spine. "Isn't it obvious that I'll have security stationed outside my house, love?"
"Listen-" I begin.
"And despite being told about a hundred times that you won't be able to escape, despite the fact that I trusted you," he hisses, bringing his hands to my waist and squeezing. "You shot me and tried to run away,"
"Please stop," I plead, squirming under his touch and gaze. "Let go of me,"
"Have you ever even considered the possibility that I might not be the worst evil out there?" he continues, holding my waist even tighter.
"Stop, William," I say breathlessly. "You're hurting me. Stop,"
"You didn't stop when I told you to, did you? Why should I?" he growls, beginning to trail his mouth up my neck.
"W-will-"
"Did you ever stop to think that I am trying to protect you? The Seven Hands aren't what you think they are. Seyta isn't who she says she is," he trails his tongue lightly along my jawline, before biting down on my neck.
"A-and who the h-hell are you?" I question, trying to sound confident. My efforts are in vain as he brings me impossibly closer.
"I have never lied to you, Lydia. You're innocent and I'm trying to get you out of this in one piece," he sighs, loosening his grip on me and placing me back on the table.
"How can I trust you?" I ask, although my instinct already tells me I can.
"F-" he mutters curses under his breath. "You know what? The Lotus database is open and logged in. Look at whatever the hell you want,"
"I-" I started to apologize, but he puts his hand over my mouth and looks at me with a frustrated expression.
"For once in your life, Lydia, shut up," he mutters before walking out, slamming the door behind him.
