AHH my exams are finished! So relieved, phew. Hope you enjoy this update! :D

We place our fingers on the pads and the mechanical creature slowly opens at the center. There is a flash drive placed in a clear, plastic box. Nodding at Drew, I grab the box and we begin to sprint.

We run through the lab at breakneck speed, dodging the debris splayed across the floor. As we begin to climb the ladders, the top begins to close. It's closing from the other side, so I toss the box out of the room and climb as fast as I can. Once I reach the top, I turn back and grab Drew's hand, getting him out just before the floor closed.

"William! Run!" I yell, taking the box with me. He stands confused for a second, then begins to run away from the cave with Drew and I following close behind.

Running through the trees and dodging branches, we finally reach a parking spot for motorcycles. I hunch over and try to catch my breath as William looks from side to side.

"What the hell is going on?" he demands.

"Long... story. Are we... and your men.. one mile away ...from the cave?" I say between breaths.

"Guys, I need everyone to clear out from the cave now. One mile radius minimum, preferably more," he calls into his earpiece. "I'd say this is just under a mile,"

I run towards the motorcycles and crouch down near one of them. Prying open the outer casing of metal with a flat rock, I am met with a jumble of wires.

"How long has it been since we left the cave?" I ask.

"About three minutes. Why? What are you doing?" William responds.

I hear more conversation, but tune everything out. Taking the wires connecting to the battery in the bike, I bite with my teeth to cut them and twist them together with the ignition wires. Getting no reaction, I untie them and twist them again, this time making sure the metal doesn't touch any other part of the engine. The motorcycle roars to life and I have two men staring at me dumbfoundedly.

"Guys. Get on the damn bike," I say.

"No way in hell. You two get on the bike, I'll deal with whatever explosion is going to occur," William protests.

"William, Drew. Get on the freaking bike. I think I'm the only one here who knows how to hotwire a bike so stop wasting time. I'll be right behind you," I grit out, my patience thinning.

I run to another bike and pry it open. This time, I am able to get it running with one try, avoiding my mistake from earlier. Climbing on, I motion for the guys to follow me. Drew gets on the bike, but William runs over and sits behind me, putting an arm around my waist.

"Like hell I'll leave you alone, Williams," he breathes into my ear as we speed away from the radioactive cave.

Well. Short chapter, but this story is almost done! It's been almost a year in the making. Man, I'm so happy. Thanks for reading y'all! Comment and vote :)
