CHAPTER 12: Enemy to Ally
"So, mind telling us what you two have been doing the entire day?" Pierce asks us. I accelerate once exiting the hotel building and move past traffic heading left. Aaron sits in the passenger side next to me while I drive. Pierce, Fern and Harrison in the back.
Harrison stares out the window, "Working on perimeters in the ball court room along with picking up dry cleaning." Harrison says, vaguely.
I gesture with a flick of my hand, "Hand them the folders, Harrison. Now, the place we're going to, they've been expecting buyers all week and while I would have preferred to sneak in and sneak out with the materials we need, these people are about as friendly as feral pit-bulls. The last person who tried to sneak in and out without detection, was found dead with his throat sliced after all his teeth were pulled out. We're dealing with people who kill for fun, but none of them are candidates. The business executive is none other than Enid Grayson, high business and product trafficker for incredibly overpriced technological advancements, that we're in fact stolen goods from-guess who?" I ask them.
Aaron studies the file, "Miles Colton."
"Indeed. Those electrodes I spoke about, they can change the outlined appearance of someone to make them appear as someone else entirely. The only people in this car are the immediate people I trust. Harrison, mechanical engineer, side-lined to the leader, Aaron. Pierce and Fern, previous enemies to the Movement who became allies the second a change in leadership was renewed. Anyone else-they have a long way to go, but as of right now, electrodes, specific weapons and nano trackers you see in those files, that's what we need to get." I explain to them, increasing speed ten fold and shutting off the lights, that's when they start freaking out.
I sigh, "Don't worry, I can see through it." I explain to them, moving at almost two hundred miles per hour as Aaron seemingly unaffected, keeps a small torch on over it.
Fern leans forwards, "What? Are we using Aaron's endless bank account to pay for these materials."
Aaron straightens, "Or you know, we could just use yours?" He says to him, dryly.
Before looking over to me, he sighs in defeat, "What's mine is yours, honey. Whatever you need."
I scoff, "I am not that kind of girl."
He raises an eyebrow, "You already know how much is in my pockets."
I look over to him and give him a low down as Harrison flicks the interior lights on, "What makes you think it's the money I'm interested in?" I ask him, raising an eyebrow. A twitch of his lips lift up, he looks over to me.
"Still a tease." He murmurs.
I wiggle my eyebrows, "You didn't answer my question." I sing out.
"No, I don't believe you're just after my money." He says to me, chuckling.
I smile softly, staring out at the road, "But I am eager to find out what qualities you do like more?" He wonders, leaning his arm on the console.
"You do remember we're in the car too, right?" Harrison points out, Fern and Pierce give us the same look.
Aaron looks over, "Count three years, and I control each of your salaries. So, put up with it." He says to them. Meow.
Aaron snaps his eyes over to me, "What was that, love?" He says, smiling wider.
I roll my eyes, "You obviously heard me." I say to him, leaning down on the speed as I turn left, sliding an earpiece on to give me navigation, Aaron stares at me indecipherably.
