CHAPTER 39: Preserving the Lethal

It was a mix of devastation and disbelief. His expression was stronger than what I've seen when he struts towards me with a masculine swagger that almost made me melt. Lips descend against mine in the warmest momentum. I gasped and the bugger chose the moment to slip his tongue past my lips. I would have stumbled back if he wasn't holding me so flush against his muscular chest. I close my eyes, gently pulling my lips back considering they felt swollen with the kiss he wanted to deepen by the looks of it, "I'm fine. We're fine." I whisper up to him, he dives his head into my neck and trembles against me. When I hear the crack in his voice and a grunt, I wrap my arms tighter around his neck. Feeling the footfalls of others, but I ignored that and chose on holding my husband.

"I watched you."

I pull back and stare up at him, "I've had near deaths more than once." I whisper, that hidden set of words underneath. It takes an army to even attempt to kill me. He presses his forehead to mine, one arm around my back and the other cupping my cheek, his eyes dashing between mine, their intensity only rising.

"Can we swear to never leave each other again?" He asks me.

I nod without hesitance, "Just stop letting me go." I breathe out, giving him a small smile when he chokes on a scoff, and lifts me bridal style, I wrap an arm around his shoulders, hearing Pierce call out that we still needed to talk. Aaron only kicks the door to our room closed. It locks under command as he lowers me down slowly, before unzipping my blouse and my pants next. He removes his shirt while he kneels before my belly. His eyes on mine as he kisses the skin. I run my my fingers through his hair.

"Shower or bath?" He whispers, leaning his forehead against my navel.

"A waterfall scented bath...and a foot massage?" I peek out in curious question, pleading.

He stares deep into my eyes and by the time he's dropped his slacks and moved them aside, my lingerie is next. When he picks me up. I snuggle into him, holding tighter. His fingers caress me as he kneels down and alters the sensors, the waterfall tap flicks on as he punches in the temperature and the sophisticated bath salt I wanted.

I turn and lie back against him as the water pools at his legs first. I felt like a warm lion cub getting pampered, "Glad to be back home." I whisper against him, gesturing that he relax considering how tense he felt. I turn on my side against him. Looking up.

He's still staring at me with those intense cognac brown irises. I cup his cheek, the stubble there seemingly more noticeable, "You have no idea what it was like watching that fucking car flip over." He curses, his voice so deep and meaningful and scared.

"It was scary being in it, but you know how much I will fight to come back to you." I promise him.

"But you left me." He spits, bitterly looking away. I sit up.

"She threatened you. She was going to hurt Eight, I did it to protect you both and I would do it again. I know you're angry at me, you have every right to be because I did put our baby in danger going with her. I never thought a bloody bomb would get in the way, but we are safer now. Hey, look at me." I whisper, reaching for him. He stares, and I see the glistening there. The glassy tears, I brush one away. His arms wrap around me tightly.

He presses his forehead to mine, pursing his lips.

I rub his neck, straddling him, he had been bottling up these emotions. Before he just wanted to hold me and now, after seeing my life in danger yet again, it was taking its toll. I hold him close, "I'm sorry, Aaron. I never meant to hurt you. I'm sorry for the times I have." I murmur.
