Chapter 9: A Visit From The Past

Liam's POV

My heart stops, I see her bouncy curls that were once brown but are now blond. Her smile melts me inside, I stare at her for a while and I'm lost in her eyes. I'm brought back to reality when Kiara tugs on my pant leg.

"I told you I can come back myself."

I bit my lip; Kiara was trying to protect me from seeing Danielle again. I start to walk toward Zayn, but she touches my shoulder and chills run down my spine. I slowly turn around and face her, she smiles.

She waves slightly, “Oh, Liam—hi.”

I smile weakly, "Uh, hi Danielle."

She touches my hair and smiles, “You’re hair, it’s different—I like it, it really suits you.”

"You look—amazing…not that you didn't look amazing before but, I mean just—wow.”

She sighs and smiles, “Well, bye…”

I open my mouth wide, “Really, what the hell Danielle?”

She turns around a bit shocked, “Woah, what?”

“You look different, well bye? Th—that’s all you have to say to me? We’ve been separated for that long without any explanation, and that’s all you have to say to me?”

She looks down and shrugs, “Liam, please—don’t.”

“Danielle, I—I was in love with you! You were the first person I ever fell in love with, I thought I’d actually spend the rest of my life with you and you, you just left me—so broken…” I say as I start tearing.

She shakes her head, “L—Liam, just please…don’t.”

I start to get upset, “Don’t?! Don’t what Danielle!??”

She starts to breakdown, “Please don’t make this harder on me than it already is Liam!”

I huff, “How can I not, huh? Like I said before I was in love with you, head over heels!”

She shakes her head, “Damn it Liam, don’t you think I fucking know that!?”

I am shocked by her tone, she sees that she drops her head, “Danielle, if you know that then why'd you leave?”

She’s is silent, but she finally talks, “Because…”

I sigh, that’s all she had to say, “Because of what?”

She belts it out, “I was scared okay!? I am so much older than you Liam, and you’re so young, so I thought that if we actually fell out of love, you’d be heartbroken—so I broke it off, before we fell in too deep.”

I throw my head back, “Well you fear came true, I was heartbroken. You left me sacred Danielle. I shaved my head, I got tattoos, and I starting cutting—”

She looks at my arms, then back at me, “Oh my—Liam, I—I didn’t know, I’m so sorry.”

 She goes in for a hug, and I hug her tightly not wanting to let go. When we pull apart she looks in my eyes, and leans in for a kiss. I'm leaning forward too, but I'm stopped by ringing.

It's Riley.

Just seeing her name on my phone makes smile, “Hello, what's the matter babe?”

“Oh, nothing—I just called to say I missed you…I know it’s lame, but—”

That's when I realized, what am I doing with Danielle? I'm about to kiss the girl who left me heartbroken when I have the best girl in the world waiting for me.
