I gazed out the window as Dawn drove down i95.

"Feels like forever since I been homeee," she said

"Yeah. It really does," I replied back. Usually I couldn't wait to get back to Miami, the sunshine lifted my spirit but today was different

"Can we stop for some food before we go to Jermaine's place?" I turned and asked her

"Good idea girl. That nigga been outta town for 3 days already, lord knows those leftover takeout dishes in his fridge are no good." She said as she took a right to get us to the nearest Publix.

"When is he getting back from Chicago by the way?" I asked

"He and his mama will be driving to Springfield for his cousin's wedding on the weekend so bout another week" she said pulling into the parking lot

I nodded as I went on to unbuckle my seatbelt....

A few days had passed since I was back home. As I tried to readjust to things as they were before.

"Man, Alejandro is a God Sent!" Dawn came in from work, dancing and saying

I raised an eyebrow at her

"That little fruitcake done got a whole bunch of his gay friends to come shop at the boutique! And here I was thinking those checks he was sending me while in Atlanta were some sorta Colombian drug money! " she sang his praises

I snickered, " isn't he Dominican though?"

"Oh yeah, " she said remembering

"Anyways we've been thinking of rebranding and expanding on the boutique...even got a new name for it- Kosmios...don't know if it means anything in Spanish but it does sound like Cosmo so I'm down wit it" she shrugged it off

"I'm really happy for you, you should go for it" I told her as she noticed what I was doing on my laptop

"You're house hunting?" She asked a little surprised

"Well yeah. This is your boyfriend's place. I don't wanna impose, besides Brie and I will needed our own space very soon," I smiled slightly as it was dawning on me that my due date was near.

" I guess you're right, but you shouldn't be searching for no house," Dawn said back to me

I frowned, " and why not?"

She sighed before closing her eyes and saying quickly, " because August kinda already got one for you?"

She opened one of her eyes and peeped at my expression

"August bought me a house??" I asked a little thrown off

She nodded, " remember that time he said he was stopping over in Miami before going to see his mama in Houston? Well...it was all a cover up. He came down here to buy you your own place since he knew you'd be coming home for work, and wanted somewhere safe for the girls"

I looked at her as I took in all that she'd said to me

"Was that the gift he had for me at the shower?" I finally asked

Dawn nodded.

"Give me a minute. I need ta make a phone call." Dawn said as she pulled out her phone

"Who are you calling?" I questioned her since we were in the middle of a conversation

"The realtor," she said quickly
