Chapter 13

"Man that bodyguard was quick!" Dawn said falling onto the sofa in our hotel suite.

I headed right for my laptop not paying much Attention to Dawn.

"Please dont tell me youre booking a flight back already? " she looked up at me saying

"No. You handle the flights. I was just checking something out" I said fixated on the laptop's screen.

Dawn frowned and came closer.

"Youre doing work at 1 am? " she scolded me when she saw my files opened.

I smiled, " I knew it."

"Knew what??"

"Kevin's Hartbeat weekend fundraiser is tomorrow night..." I said pulling out my phone

"I still dont get it Miky, " Dawn said.

I turned facing her, " Kevin is hosting his fundraiser in Las Vegas tomorrow night. He asked me to plan it for him but I told him my license was only for Florida state as of now"

She nodded and motioned her hand telling me to go on.

"He still begged me to put together a few things like guest list and so on...I just accessed my files for his confirmed guests and look who's on it" I said pointing at my screen

"August Alsina!" she read the first name on the list, since it was in alphabetical order. She clapped her hands.

"Now get to booking our flights to vegas. Im gonna call Kev and let him know we're coming through, " I said dialing his number.

The following morning.

As I paged through a magazine on the flight to vegas, I thought of how much I was holding up my work to go on this wild chase after August. I dont know why I hadnt just thought of a rational plan like this earlier, instead of Dawn's which got me manhandled.

"Aight so we staying at the MGM you said right?" Dawn ask sipping her orange juice

"Yeah. Kev was so happy I was coming he put us up for the night" I said to her

"Damn, your clients sure do love you" she said excitedly

I sighed," not if I dont get back to work soon"

"Well you will be by tomorrow. Kevin will make sure you get to August this time around" she assured me

I looked out my window now feeling a little nervous as to telling this complete stranger he was going to be a father.

That night

"Would you hurry up" Dawn snapped at me. Usually I was the one waiting on her but tonight I wasnt in any rush to really tell August. In fact I was scared.

I took a deep breath fixing a strand of hair before unlocking the bathroom door.

"Ok..lets go" I said trying to steady my breathing

Dawn placed her hands on my shoulders, "its ok hun, I got your back on this"

I nodded as she gave me a little smile before we left the suite.

"Mikyyyy!" I heard Kevin's fiance squeal to me when she saw me

"Neeky!" I said giving her a big hug.

"Havent seen you since the engagement party. How's everything? " eneeko asked as she smiled at Dawn.

"Im good good...where's your crazy man at?" I joked. She pointed over her shoulder as kevin approached us.
