The warm radiating across my face is what wakes me from my slumber. I slowly start sitting up. The bed beside me was already cold. I yawn before rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I lift my arms up stretching some.
Everything from yesterday comes flooding back. Everything about Ryouko. I slowly pull my knees up to my chest. Why is everything going bad all the time?
A scent starts filling my sense of smell. I look over towards the door. Then the door opens and standing on the other side is none other than my mate. Nishiki looks over at me. "How are you holding up?" He ask. I shake my head slightly.
"How is anyone suppose to hold up?" I retort. He slowly comes over towards me.
Nishi sits behind me, wrapping his arms securely around me. "I don't know," he whispers in response.
I slowly nod my head slightly at that before hearing a knock. I slowly look towards the door taking a whiff of the air, catching who's scent it was. I cross my legs instead of having them up to my chest, already knowing what was about to happen. "Come in," I say in a soft tone.
The door opens and there she stands. She glances over at me. I nod my head slightly and motion her over. She races towards me before wrapping her arms around me. My instincts kick in and I wrap an arm around her while the other cradles her head. "Shhh, it's okay, I've got you Hinami," I whisper towards the girl.
I let her cling to me. Something that I've grown kind of use to in my own way. I felt something wet hit a few places on my shirt. "Hey," I say as I try to calm her down some. Her grip on my shirt on seems to tighten. I catch her moving, trying to hide that she was shivering. I slowly pull the blanket over the both of us, hoping that she'll relax some.
Eventually, Hinami's grip loosens up. I continue to hold her close though. I can't let anything bad happen to her. I listen in and hear her slow and gentle breathing. I sigh slightly as I slowly lean back some, hitting Nishiki's chest.
"You know, you're really good with people," the older ghoul comments, keeping his voice low as not to wake the girl. I shake my head slightly.
"I don't see that but okay," I reply. The faint chuckle from Nishiki causes me to smile.
Nishiki's arms start to slowly move and I pull Hinami closer, feeling a piercing sting in the palm of my hands. He slowly takes my hands. "Kiyo, it's just me," he whispers. I nod my head slightly as I slowly open my balled up fists. When I do there's deep cuts in the palm of my hands and small claws were out.
"Sorry," I whisper. Since the whole Tsukiyama incident, I've been trying to get better at control everything but some things I was still working on, like my natural instincts. Similar to the ones that I was using when I protected Nishiki that day.
"It's okay," Nishiki whispers back. He slowly moves his hands to hold mine as we wrap our arms around Hinami. I feel myself slowly calming down some as I look up at Nishiki.
