The Truth

When I wake up, everything was fuzzy, nothing really jotting the memories of the night before. I slowly realize that I'm under a comforter. My head slowly moves to notice the surrounding walls. I'm in my room? I slowly sit up. I look down seeing I'm in a strange shirt...wait, no. It's not strange, it's just not mine. It's Nishiki's.

I slowly start to sit up but wince for a moment. A pain shoots through my body. I slowly move back on to my side curling up. I look over at me side to see a glass of water and a few pills on my night stand.

I slowly move towards them and slowly took the pills, drowning them down with the water. I lay down for a moment before I get up. Kids. I have to check up on my kid. I move towards the twins room looking but not seeing them. My chest starts racing so fast that it causes my chest to hurt. Quickly, I race to my son's room and see the crib empty.

My hands start shaking as I race back to my room. I scram to find my phone so that I can call someone, anyone. By the time I find my phone, it rings. Nishiki. I answer the phone call, my breathing shaky.

"Kiyoshi, what's wrong?" He ask.

"No-nothing's wrong Nish-Nishiki," I stutter.

"You can be honest with me," the voice sounds through the phone.

"I....,"my voice cracks as I choke out a sob, "Kou....the twins....gone," I manage to let the words leave my trembling lips.

"Kiyo, calm down. They're with Kimi, remember?" Nishiki says with a calming tone.

"Kimi?" My friend's name leaves my voice.

"Yeah," Nishiki says. "Hey, they're okay. Calm down and relax."

Somehow, I listen to what he was saying. I start taking deep breathes. I start to slowly wipe the tears away off my face.

"There you go," Nishiki says. "Just get some sleep. You must be really tired," he adds.

"But-"

"No buts! Just rest well and I'll make sure the kids get home safe and sound, I promise." My body relaxes at that, but he promised....something he only does when he means it.

"Alright," I sigh. I heard a faint snicker in the background. "Hey! No laughing!" I say as my lips poke out.

"Sorry, Kiyoshi," the ghoul replies.

"It's alright," I say with my lips still poking out.

"I'll see you later, okay," he says.

"See you," I mutter back. The phone line then goes dead with the end of the call.

I slowly lean my head forward and feel the exhaustion hitting me like a truck. Not only was there exhaustion, but I was little sore in weird places. I manage to crawl back into my bed and curl up under the covers. Before long, I feel weightless and free.

Sun shining through my curtains is what wakes me from my sleep. I slowly sit up and feel refresh and completely awaken. I pull the covers off of my body before I decided to go and get dress.
