"WE HAVE TO RUN, NOW..."

---¤☆¤---

Sitting on a large tree branch, I wiped my cheeks as more silent tears fell. As much as I wanted to sob out loud I knew it would bring attention to us. From the tributes, the Gamemakers and the mutts. Clearing my throat for the third time in the past two minutes, I shift on my branch careful to not injure my shoulder even more. I hadn't dressed my wound yet. I thought that I would have bandages in my backpack, but I didn't have that luck. Guess it finally ran out.

We had a sharpening stone, a pack of matches, three salted crackers, a bag of almonds and an empty bottle of water. No bandages. No pain killers. No disinfected. Nothing that could help me. Resting my head on the trunk of the tree, I try to focus on the chirping of birds, anything but the aching pain of my shoulder. Shutting my eyes for a second, I felt another wave of lightheadedness hit me, this one harder than the last one. I just wanna fall asleep.

"Athena, you need to stay awake." Ares whispers, poking me with his shoe.

"I am. Just sleepy." I croak.

"I know. But, the Cornucopia isn't safe for us. We'll have to wait until morning to raid it for supplies." He argues, as I shrug him off.

"I know. I just wanna take a nap. Can I take one and you keep watch?" I ask, lazily opening my eyes.

Shaking his head at me, he pokes me again with his shoe, this time much harder than the last. Lazily kicking at him, I feel a yawn cracking up my throat. Maybe, I should take a nap. It's been a long day. Leaning my head against the tree trunk, I glance at Ares, watching him scan our surroundings. No tributes. No mutts. It was calm. Hopefully, it will stay like this for a while. Glancing at me, he shakes his head before leaning his back against the tree trunk, feet dangling off the edge. One wrong turn and he would fall.

"No, that's a bad idea. You've lost a lot of blood already, plus the trainer at the first aid station said not to fall asleep. Just⎯um⎯Talk to me." He rambles.

"About what?" I ask, stifling a yawn.

"About which district you want to see." He blurts out, making me furrow my brows.

"What?" I ask.

"I've always wanted to see District Seven. See snow and trees as big as skyscrapers, you know? I wanna find out if that's true or not." He explains, with a big doopy smile.

"That sounds nice. I might want to see Four." I said, smiling at him.

"Why?" He asks.

"I wanna see the ocean. Mom and I talk about what we think it looks like. She thinks it looks like the picture we see sometimes. I think it looks better in person, but I don't know." I explain, smiling as I mention my Mom.
