TW- PROFANITY

WC- 1397

--(Y/N) POV---

A cocky grin spread across my face as I planted my feet on the fresh soil of the forest. My grip on the dull stone sword was firm, ready for the next strike.

Any moment now...

And just like that, the male with messy short raven hair strikes his first move at me. To be fair, I haven't held a sword in months, but my skill has never left. It was almost like riding a bike in a way. You can never forget, it just comes to you naturally.

I lightly slid to my left avoiding his strike from the right and took this as a chance to gain the upper hand. Using the side of my muddied boots, I extend my leg out causing him to trip in a pile of moist Autumn leaves.

It was November, I recently found out. The war had come to a close the day I left, according to Dream. At dusk on that very Summer day, Tommy had basically offered his life for the independence of L'Manberg. A bow duel against Dream.

Ten paces, three arrows. To the death.

Surprise, surprise! Dream was on his pity arc and said "I didn't want him to die." Bullshit. I called him a noob after he told me that. Sure we were talking about my brother's life being on the line, but after hearing everyone was alive and doing fine, I was set in a neutral-chaos state of mind. Even after the information of Tommy giving up his beloved disks. I had no idea what connection everyone had with those things, but I never cared.

Everything was fine.

Sure the word fine is a dirty four-letter f word, but it's literally the only term to describe life as it is now.

"Haha! Gotcha, Sap," I shout as I lightly poke the end of the blade to his chest. "What is that, twenty-four to three?"

All Sapnap did was grumble in response. "You can get real cocky with your skill sometimes, (Y/N). I advise you don't get too far ahead of yourself," Sapnap said as he dusted off the soggy leaves on his black cargo pants.

"Not my fault. I'm just a girl boss," I teased with a prideful smile. "We should head back, Dream said to be back before dusk. Unfortunately, he has some important news."

"Important my ass. He's probably just going to announce his engagement to George," Sapnap jokes giving me a light shove in the shoulder.

"About time," I shove the male back. He gives no reaction, so I take the hint to start walking again until I hear thundering footsteps behind me.

I'm barely given a second to think before I'm rolling on the wet grass. "Not much of a girl boss now, huh?" Sapnap laughs, almost out of breath.

"Oh fuck off, you lost fair and square you sore loser," I say as I lift myself looking down at my green cargo pants. "Now it looks like I pissed myself!"

"Serves you right!" Sapnap yelled, already running back to the house.

I laugh to myself. This fucker.

I begin to make my way back to the community house as a weave my hands through my damp, grassy hair.

The gravel gives off a small crunch of noise at every stride I take. I enjoy the slight noise the trees make at the chilled breeze of the Autumn breeze. It's calming, especially with the pitched chirps of the bird that fly freely in the gloomy air. I don't know why but I always enjoyed the dank feel of the Autumn (approaching Winter) time. It wasn't snowing, but it wasn't warm enough to be a hot summer rain.

Later in my walk, I got this odd feeling. It felt as if I was being watched. My senses told me to run, but I was never one to listen to my gut instinct. I looked around, seeing as I was only nine yards from the exit of the forest trail. Soon after, I caught a faint stare of devilish red eyes, but as quickly as they came, they left.

Those eyes... Why do they look so similar?

The grumble of my stomach interrupted my thoughts. Ah yes, food time. I need to get back before I cause any type of suspicion. Today would not be a good day to start a panic over me being missing again.

We all know what happened last time I ran away, and it was most definitely not the brightest on my behalf.

It's been two weeks since I've been back. My relationships were a bit rough with the "Dream Team", but I eventually came through. Sapnap and I couldn't be closer, while George would simply sleep twenty hours a day. That dude was some type of god storing his energy for god knows what.

Dream on the other hand was all healed, but he would always be off preparing for something. I had a feeling I knew the 'something' was going to be talked about tonight. There's no way I'm wrong.

Other than that, he would always stay up late with me and fill me in on what I had missed. We would always crack small jokes at each other as well. Just like old friends.

Could I consider him as my friend again?

Before I knew it, I was sitting down at the dinner table with a bowl of steaming mushroom stew in front of me. I was accompanied by the rest of the 'team' for once. We were always missing one person during our meals, but that never bothered me.

"Good soup," I said as I slurped some of the hot liquid without using my spoon. "What was it you wanted to tell us, Dream?"

"Well," Dream paused, lowering his spoon into his soup bowl. "I wanted to announce the coronation of our new head of royalty in the greater SMP. This will take place tomorrow and everyone will be there."

"Royalty in the SMP?" I question out loud after I gulp down a mouthful of soup. I lower the bowl back to the surface of the table and give Dream the stink eye.

"Yes, King Eret will be crowned at Eight o'clock sharp tomorrow night and I request that you accept my invite. Your bother and the rest of L'Manberg have been invited as well, but I hold no promises."

"He's asking you to be his hot date," Sapnap blurts, causing George to spit out a mouth full of soup and laugh.

I also let out a small snicker, lightly covering my mouth with a napkin. "As much as I appreciate the offer, Dream, I would simply have to decline."

To be honest, I don't think I'm ready to see my friends and brother again. Also Eret. As Damaged as he is, they still accepted to betray us all and leave us as good as dead. Eret was probably the reasoning behind my sudden "vacation".

Dream clears his throat, with a light tint of red on the tips of his ears. "There will be a large feast,"  he says. My eyes widen slightly, but I'm still not convinced. "And a large selection of the SMP's finest desserts.

My eyes widen fully. Gods am I a sucker for sweets. I was never able to have desserts all of my life because they were a delicacy for the upper class. "Alright you won me over, I just don't have anything to wear."

With the slight adjustment of Dreams mask, I could tell he was smiling.

I'm starting to regret this, but for food, it'll be worth every second of it.

I hope...

Flashbacks of the masquerade fill my mind. It felt like yesterday. I lay with a sliced leg in the sturdy arms of Dream, running away from the life I once had.

Maybe this time, I could enjoy the party.
