The party

It's been four hours since Mello and Matt had the conversation with Roger along with Near's bullies.

He is sitting on his bed in his bedroom reading a book.

Suddenly he hears a knock on his bedroom door.

Mello frowns: "Come in."

His door opens and Mello sees Linda.

Mello looks at Linda questioningly.

"Hi Mello...do you know where Matt is?".

Mello frowns again: "Matt?...I think he's outside."

Linda smiles: "Okay...thank you".

And then she closes his door and walks out.

It is wonderfully warm outside so she is not wearing a coat this time.

She soon found Matt.

He sits on the bench in their schoolyard.

Linda walks up to him: "Hey Matt".

Matt looks up questioningly and sees Linda.

"Hi".

"Can I sit next to you?" and she points to the couch.

Matt looks at her and nods, "Sure".

Linda smiles and sits down on the bench next to him: "Are you all right?".

Matt looks at her: "I feel bad for Near".

Linda sighs and sits back: "Yes me too".

Matt nods.

"But...thank you for standing up for me...that was very cool".

Matt looks at her and gets a red head again: "No thanks".

Linda smiles.

And looks at him fondly.

Matt feels his heart beating faster and faster in his throat as he looks at Linda.

Linda smiles again. And also feels red.

She swallows a big lump in her throat.

And Linda and Matt look at each other.

Linda smiles again.

And after staring at each other for a while without saying a word, Matt gently puts his index finger under her chin.

And brings his face to hers.

and close his eyes. Linda does the same and puts a hand on his shoulder.

Matt puts his lips to Linda's lips.

Then Matt breaks the kiss and looks at Linda.

Linda pulls him against her and puts her lips against his again.

Then Linda pulls her head back and they smile at each other.

The day of the school dance arrives.

Mello looks at Matt: "Hey...why didn't you ask your crush out to go to that party with you?". "That party is already tonight."

Matt smiles: "I don't have to do that anymore...I already did that".

Mello frowns: "When?".

Matt looks at him and smiles: "Since I have a girlfriend".

Mello frowns: "Since when did you have a girlfriend?".

Matt chuckles: "Since I kissed Linda!".

Mello's mouth falls open: "How good man!". "And now she's your girlfriend?".
