Chapter Twenty : Too Little, Too Late

I smiled as I saw the boys lying in the water, all of them had the wind knocked out of them. Juvia swam up to me, winking. "Juvia thinks Lucy did awesomely against the boys!" She said, resting her arm on her shoulder. "Thanks Juvia." I replied, the boys moaning in agony.

I saw Natsu suddenly jump to his feet, a wide grin on his face. "I guess it's my turn now." he said, wandering into the water. I sighed, he was obviously hurt and out of steam.

"Sit down you idiot." I said, raising my hand. Silk appeared once again, punching him round the face before disappearing, Natsu falling back with a surprised expression.

Ugh, boys!

I stepped out the water, watching as Erza sat by the window, gazing at the moon. "Hey Erza. Enjoying the view?" I asked, joining her.

"Yeah. The moon seems quite clear tonight." she turned to me, smiling. "And you've become quite powerful indeed. Even stronger that me I guess!"

I blushed, crossing my legs. "Even if I was, your still powerful by your own right Erza. No need to flatter me!"

I looked up, Zeref still stuck on the chair, staring into the swimming pool. "Why do you think he's here?" Erza said, looking directly at me as I turned back. "Who? Zeref?"

"Yes."

"I don't know. Coincidence?" I replied, looking back out the window.

"I highly doubt that."

I thought for a moment. "Old times sake maybe? He's the one who trained me after all!"

"That's understandable." She finally said, standing up and tying her hair. "Are you coming into the water?"

I shook my head, smiling. "No. I had my fair share of swimming tonight. Maybe some other day."

She then walked off, heading into the pool. As she did, Natsu walked up to me and sat down opposite, crossing his legs. "Hi Lucy."

"Hi Natsu. What's up?"

He paused for a moment, scratching the back of his head. We were interrupted by Erza's shout, who was standing on the highest diving board.

"Watch this!"

She jumped high before preforming a successful twisting, double tuck dive, her body barely making a splash. I turned to see Juvia and Luna with cards, both holding up a ten.

I clapped as Era swam to the shallow end, a grin on her face. Gray then stood on the board, giving a strong thumbs up. "Ok then, my turn!"

He jumped, tucking his body together. "Cannon Ball!" He shouted, before coming in contact with the water, an enormous wave making its way towards me and Natsu, drenching us both to the bone.

"Gray!" I shouted, shivering. Luna held up a seven, while Juvia was waving around the ten happily. "That's my Gray-sama!" She squealed, everyone looking at her.

I curled myself in a ball, my body cold.

Great! And I was hoping to say warm!

I then felt warm hands wrap me up into their chest, Natsu snuggling me up next to him. "Whoa! Your shivering like crazy." He exclaimed, tucking me in tighter.

"Y-Yeah.." I stuttered, the warmth from his chest pressing against my back. I could feel him lean in, my face going bright red.

"Seems the Dark wizard isn't happy." he whispered in my bare ear, making me direct my gaze to Zeref. He was right.

Zeref cold, almost jealous eyes focused on us, his body tensing up.

"Your right......he looks..." before I could answer, I felt him connect his lips to my cheek, my body heating by the second. "N-Natsu?...." I stuttered, his arms squeezing tighter around my waist.

As he pulled away, Zeref walked down the chair steps, a calm expression on his face, but I was sure it wasn't the emotion he was feeling inside.

When he passed Natsu's shoulder, I could see him freeze from the touch of the dark wizard, a shocking expression covering his face. When the doors shut behind Zeref as he disappeared, Natsu turned me around, and pushed his head into mine. The words that he said to me hit me hard, cold sweat falling down my forehead. He gripped me tighter. I knew he was tempted to lean forward, but he held back.

"Goodbye Lucy."
