Cress POV
I am in pain.
A lot of pain.
I feel like pain is the only thing I have ever known, I would have period cramps for the rest of my life to never feel this kind of pain again.
I squeeze Thorne's hand hard, it's a wonder he hasn't told me to stop squeezing his hand.
People are running around me doing who knows what, no one seems to be paying particular attention to me. Maybe somebody else is giving birth in a different room.
Oh stars, I already feel like I am about to die and I know it is going to get worse.
I close my eyes and force out a breath, I am going to make it through this.
I made it through my stomach wound and I am going to make it through this as well.
A woman walks over to me and checks something on the monitor, her eyes go wide and she glance back at me before running off back down the hall.
"Thorne, what's going on?" I say, there's seems to be a pause in the pain.
Thorne frowns at where the lady disappeared to, "I don't know, I would go find out but I don't want to leave you here by yourself."
"Where's Liam?" I say through gritted teeth. The pain is back.
"He is in the waiting room, the front office lady said I could leave him up there and my parent should be here any minute now to pick him up and bring him to a near by hotel." Thorne checks his watch quickly and nods to himself.
"Are you scared?" Thorne asks looking back at me.
I nod. If this what birth feels like I don't want to know what death feels like.
Nurse POV
I walk over to a womans bed side, on the instructions of my boss. I do this everyday see people in pain, clinging onto their husbands or wives for dear life. I'm numb to it.
Everything always moves at the same slow pase.
But today is different, I look down at the screen and my eyes almost pop out of my head, this woman is about one minute from giving birth.
I glance at her, she looks like it to, why I am the first to notice this I don't know.
I run off down the hall imagining the baby just falling out of her onto the floor.
Now that is something I am not numb to, I do not want to see that. And I won't see it, not on my watch.
