Finally

*Jack's P.O.V*
"Guys are we seriously not doing anything about this?" I asked.
"She wants us to leave it alone." Johnson answered from the kitchen.
"So we're supposed to just sit back and let him get away with this?!"
"Jack believe me I want to do something but Ava made it clear that she wanted us to stay out of this." Sammy quietly spoke.
"I don't believe you guys it's like you don't even care." I said as I got up from my seat.
"Don't you for one second act like you care more about Ava than Sam and I! She is like a little sister to me I've known her since we were kids her and Sam are best friends! You have known her for two months at the most so don't even entertain the idea that you know or care for her the way Sam and I do!" Nate started yelling as he walked closer to me.
"If you care why don't you do something then?!" I yelled back getting in his face.
"Because she doesn't want us to!" Sam yelled joining in to defend Nate.
"Hey cut it out!" Johnson yell at us as he ran back into the living room.
"He started it!" Sam yelled.
"I don't care who started it cut it out Ava doesn't want is to do anything so we're staying out if it...Jack you do what you want." Johnson said.
"I'm leaving I'll see you guys when you come to your senses." I said as I walked out the front door.
I don't understand how they can just let this happen while Ava sits at home in pain. I don't care what Ava said I'm doing something about it.
I drove around for a little bit deciding on what I should do and I ended up at Brock's house so I went to his front door and knocked.
"Hey Gilinsky long time no see." he said after he opened the door.
"So I heard you got with Ava last night." I said after he let me in the house.
"Oh yeah I was a bit rough but she'll be fine."
"So it's true?" I questioned.
"Yeah had her screaming my name and let me tell you she was so tight man it was the best I've had in a long time." he said with a smug look on his face.
I couldn't listen to him anymore the next thing I knew I punched him in the face.
"What the hell was that for?!" He yelled.
"You raped her!" I yelled in his face I could feel my face heating up. And then his face from this confused look to a devilish smirk.
"Well she asked for it. Why do you care about some stupid whore anyways?" He asked chuckling at the end.
"She isn't a whore she's my friend that's why I care about her!" I yelled as I punched him in the face.
" That's all you've got? " He laughed before punching me in the face. It turned into a full on fight and it ended with Brock on the floor begging me to stop.
"If you come near Ava again you'll have more than just me to worry about." I threatened through gritted teeth.
"Do you understand?!" I yelled.
"Yes I'm sorry just get out of my house."
And with that I went outside to my car and went home for dinner.
"Jack where have you been?" My mom asked as soon as I walked the house.
"I was at Johnson's." I replied.
"Oh okay are you hungry?"
"Yes I'm starving." I chuckled a little.
"What happened to your eye?" My dad asked.
"Oh Nate accidentally elbowed me in the eye."
"Oh well go get some ice on it."
I nodded my head and did as I was told.
"So what's for dinner?" I asked my mom as I sat at the bar in the kitchen to watch her cook.
"Spaghetti."
"I love spaghetti." I said with a big grin on my face.
"You want some chocolate milk while you wait?"
"Yes please."
*30 minutes later*
"Dinners ready!" My mom yelled from the kitchen.
"So is it fine if I don't go to school tomorrow?"
"Why don't you want to go to school?" My dad questioned.
"Because I was gonna go to Ava's house and keep an eye on her." I answered as I played with the spaghetti on my plate.
"Who's Ava?" My dad asked.
"Is she your girlfriend?" My mom added.
"No she's a friend and she's going through a rough time right now and her parents have been on a business trip for a while so she has no one...I'm just worried about her that's all." I answered truthfully.
"Well I suppose you can go keep her company." my mom answered.
"So is she pretty?" My mom grinned.
"She's beautiful." I gushed.
"Well what's she like?" My dad asked.
"She's really sweet and she's so selfless and strong I don't know I just really like her." I finished with a smile on my face.
"Why don't you ask her out?" My mom asked.
"Mom it's not as easy as it sounds she's been through too much with guys and she doesn't want to get hurt."
"Well then prove to her that you won't hurt her." my dad pointed out.
"I don't know right now she just needs a friend so that's what I'm going to be for her."
"Well sweetie I hope that works out for you."
"Thanks mom."
"So you say her parents are on business trips?" My dad asked.
"Yeah they've been gone for a while."
"What do they do?" Mom asked.
"Her dad is like a CEO to some big company and her mom is a lawyer so they're gone a lot."
"Well you should invite her to dinner one night so I can make her a nice home cooked meal."
"I'll talk to her about it tomorrow."
"Okay good because I really want to meet her."
"Okay mom I'm gonna go to bed I'll let you know what she says."
"Okay goodnight sweetie."
"Goodnight love you guys."
"Love you too." they both said in unison.
When I got to my room I stripped down to my boxers and jumped in bed.

The next morning I woke up around 10 and got dressed in my red and black flannel with a black tank and some jeans with my black vans.
"Hey mom I'm gonna go to Ava's so I'll see you when I get home tonight." I said as I grabbed my keys and walked to the front door.
"Okay bye sweetheart."
On my way to Ava's house I picked up some Starbucks and McDonalds for us so we could eat lunch.
When I pulled into Ava's driveway she was waiting for me by the front door.
"Hey I got us some lunch and Starbucks." I said as I held up the food and drink carrier.
"Why aren't you at school and what the hell happened to your eye?" She asked as she walked up to me and examined my eye.
"I decided to spend the day with you so you didn't have to be alone, and My eye is fine."
"So you're not gonna tell me?"
"Nate elbowed me on accident."
"Oh okay well let's get inside so we can eat." She said as she walked through the front door.
"So how have you been?"
"I've been fine."
"I've been worried about you..." I said as we sat in her room on the floor.
"I'll be fine don't worry about me."
"You're my friend I'm gonna worry about you especially after what happened."
"Jack we're not talking about this."
"I'm just saying I care about you Ava."
"I know and I appreciate that but I don't want to think about what happened with Brock."
"Okay I'm sorry..."
"So are you going to tell me what really happened to your eye?" She asked as she slowly looked up to me.
"I already told you what happened."
"Yeah but you lied to me."
"Ava I-"
"Jack please don't lie to me people have been lying to me my whole life don't be one of those people." she pleaded through watery eyes.
"Please don't be mad at me."
"What did you do?"
"I went to talk to Brock and we got in a fight." I said too afraid to make eye contact.
"Why would you do that?"
"For you."
"I told you guys to stay out of it!" She said raising her voice.
"Why are you getting mad at me?!" I yelled back.
"Because I asked you not to do something and you did it anyways!"
She yelled as she stood up from the floor.
"I did it because I care about you!"
"I don't want you to care about me Jack I'm not your responsibility!"
"Why do you do that?" I asked hurt by her words.
"Do what?!"
"Push people away when they care about you!" I yelled as I stood up to look her in the eyes.
"Because I'm not letting you or anyone else get close to me so you can just leave me!" She yelled back through her tears.
"I am not going to leave you Ava! When are you going to see that?!"
"Everyone leaves me Jack I'm not taking any chances!"
"You can't keep thinking like that." I said with hurt clear in my eyes.
"I'm done talking to you about this!"
"I'm going downstairs when you're cooled off and ready to talk you come to me." I said before walking out the door.

Hours had passed and soon it was dinner time and Ava still hadn't come to talk to me so I decided to cook some chicken Alfredo so we could eat later.
I was standing in front of the counter fixing our plates when I felt a pair of arms wrap around me causing me to tense up until I realized it was Ava.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you." she apologized I could tell she had been crying a lot from the raspy sound in her voice.
"It's okay we both yelled I shouldn't have went to Brock after you said not to." I said as I turned around so I could hug her back.
"I'm sorry for pushing you away." I heard her mumble into my chest.
"I'm not going anywhere Ava." I said squeezing her a little and resting my chin on her head as I rang fingers through her hair.
"I'm so messed up Jack." She said through more tears.
"It's okay everyone is a little messed up."
"You don't get it Jack my parents sent me away." she said as she looked down at her hands.
"What?"
"This summer I wasn't in Oklahoma my parents sent me to a treatment center in Arizona." she said as she hopped on the counter in front of me.
"Why would they do that?"
And for the first time she opened up to me she told me everything it was a bittersweet moment. I felt for her she had been through so much. When she finished telling me everything all I could do was hold her I didn't know what else to do.
"Ava I will never hurt you and I will be here for you no matter what I'm not going anywhere. Okay?" I said as I grabbed her face so she would look at me.
"Okay." she answered before hugging me.
"Well I cooked for us but as you can see the food is cold." I said earning a laugh from her.
"It's okay we can just put it in the fridge and I'll snack on it later."
"You sure I can go buy you something."
"No you bought me lunch today and you should probably go home so your parents don't get mad at you for being out too late."
"Oh yeah speaking of parents my mom wants to know if you would like to come over for dinner one night since your parents are on that business trip."
"Oh yeah sure I would love that." She replied with a big grin on her face.
"Okay I'll let my mom know." I said smiling at her.
"Well I'll see you later." she said as she walked me to the front door.
"Goodbye." I said before giving her a kiss on the side of her head.
"Goodbye Jack." She said as her face turned a slight shade of red.
On my way back home I couldn't help but to be happy after all of this time she finally opened up to me.
When I got home I went into the living room to talk to my mom.
"Hey mom so I talked to Ava and she said she would love to come over for dinner some time."
"Oh good I'm excited find out her favorite foods I'll cook them for her."
"Okay mom I will I'm going to bed so goodnight."
"Goodnight."
When I got to my room I went to straight to bed and thought about Ava all night.
