It's been three weeks since school started, I'm still lying to everyone about Oklahoma and it's killing me. All I can think about is what would happen if someone found out I don't want anyone to look at me differently. I feel terrible lying to Sammy, Nate, and Amber they're my best friends and I can't even tell them the truth.

"Ava..." My dad said as he opened my bedroom door snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Yes??"

"Are you going to school today?" He asked raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah I was just finishing up." I said grabbing my bag.

"Oh okay....how are you?" He asked trying to change the subject.

"Dad I'm fine..."

"Sorry I'm just worried about you, you don't seem like your old self..."

"Well dad when you go where I went you don't exactly come back the same person especially when you're lying to all of your friends telling them you went to Oklahoma." I said walking past him.

"I'm sorry your mother and I did what we thought was best for you." He said following me downstairs.

"What would have been best for me is if you would have just left it alone...left me alone you and mom seem to be good at that." I said walking out the front door.

The drive to school consisted of me trying to calm myself down from the conversation my dad and I had. When I pulled into my parking space I sat for a second trying to get the right mindset for school today just fake a smile and act like everything is okay, that should be easy that's all my life consists of is putting on a fake smile. When I got out of the car Sammy pulled up next to me in his jeep.

"Hey Ava you still hanging out with me and Nate after school today?" He asked as he got out and walked towards me.

"Yeah of course, who else am I gonna hangout with?" I said with a slight smile.

"Well you could hangout with Amber."

"Nah ever since she started dating Mike we haven't really talked or anything." I said shrugging my shoulders.

"Oh I'm sorry about that..."

"No don't be she deserves to be happy...everyone deserves to be happy." I said smiling up at him.

"You know Ava I love the outlook you have on life." He said as he threw his arm over my shoulder.

If he knew just how screwed up I was he wouldn't have said that...

"Well I gotta go to class but I'll see you in English he said giving me a hug before he left.

When I got to Spanish I saw Amber sitting with Mike so I walked over to say hello.

"Hey Amber, hey Mike." I said as I approached them with a smile on my face.

"Hey Ava!" Amber said giving me a big hug.

" What's up?" Mike asked.

"Nothing really just wanted to see how you guys were." I said with a grin on my face.

"Oh we're great." Amber answered.

"Well that's good I'm happy to hear that we should hangout soon Amber you know catch up I haven't seen you in forever." I suggested hopefully she would agree.

" Hmm well Mike and I have plans all this week but maybe sometime next week." She answered as she ran her fingers through Mike's hair not even paying attention to me.
