*Alarm goes off*
"Ugh!" I groaned as I turned off my alarm.
Today is the first day back to school...to be more specific the first day of senior year. This is going to be the first time I've seen my friends in three months and I'm not even as excited as I should be. I just don't know what I'm going to tell everyone when they ask where I've been...I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. After a while of trying to wake myself up I finally went and got a shower. Once I finished with my shower I looked through my closet for something to wear, I didn't want to look like I was trying too hard so I settled on wearing a black and white long sleeved sweat shirt that said pink across the chest, skinny jeans, and black converse. After I got dressed I let my hair dry into its natural waves and put on a little make up. After I felt like my appearance was good enough I ran downstairs grabbed an apple and my car keys.
"Ava...are you not going to have more than an apple for breakfast?" My mother asked just as I was about to walk out the front door.
"Mother...if I was going to have more than an apple for breakfast I would have grabbed more than just an apple." I said as I stopped to turn and look at her.
"I'm sorry Ava I'm just worried about you." she said as she walked over to give me a hug.
"Well there's nothing to worry about I'm fine." I said pulling away from the hug and walking out the front door to my car.
The whole car ride to school I kept thinking of what I would say when people asked what happened to me over the summer...maybe I'll just tell them I went to my grandparents or something. When I got to school and found a parking space and sat in the car for a couple of minutes until I heard a tap on my window that caused me to look up and see my best friend Amber...she does not look happy.
"Hey Amber...long time no see." I said as I got out of the car.
"Cut the crap Ava."
"I'm sorry I haven't talked to you in a while..." I said looking down at my feet.
"Where the hell have you been?"
"I stayed with some relatives and there was no cell reception." I said conjuring up a lie as fast as I could.
"Oh where do your relatives live?"
"Oklahoma."
"You went all the way to Oklahoma...for three months?"
"Yeah I was helping my aunt around the house my uncle was gone on a mission trip to India."
"Oh okay well I'm just glad you're back."
"Yeah me too I've missed you." I said giving her a hug.
" I missed you too just don't ever go to Oklahoma again." She said pulling out of the hug to look at me.
"Trust me I don't plan on it." I said causing her to laugh.
After Amber and I caught up we went to our first class which was Spanish. When I walked into class it was like all eyes were on me I mean I'm used to getting looks from everyone but this time it was different. There weren't any seats for Amber and I to sit next to each other we were on opposite sides of the room.
"Damn Ava you were MIA all summer." One of the jocks named Josh said as I sat next to him.
"Yup" I said popping the p.
"Where were you?"
"Oklahoma."
"Oh..."
"Yeah but I'm back now so let's not focus on where I was." I said with a slight smile.
"Well it certainly is good to have you back." He said with a smirk as he looked me up and down causing me to roll my eyes.
*After Class*
"What class do you have next?" Amber asked.
"History."
"Dammit I have calculus."
"Well I guess I'll see you later..." I said walking towards my class.

After history I had English, English is definitely my favorite subject just because it's the easiest class like ever. When I got to class I made sure to sit in the back just to avoid any type of social interaction. I was just tired of people asking where I was just so I could lie and say I was in "Oklahoma". I hate lying to people almost as much as I hate being lied to.
The desks were set up into groups of two and I was eager to see who would sit next to me.
"Ava you have some explaining to do."
"Hey Sammy..."
"Don't hey me, where the hell have you been?" He asked as he sat next to me.
"Oklahoma."
"Fuck don't ever leave again I missed my best friend." he said giving me a hug.
"I won't leave again I promise." I said hugging back.
"Ava where the hell have you been?!" My friend Nate asked as he walked towards Sammy and I.
"She was I'm Oklahoma." Sammy answered for me.
"Well damn don't do that again I missed you like crazy!" Nate said giving me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek.
"I missed you too Nate don't worry I won't leave again it can go back to old times and you Sammy and I can hangout like we used to." I said with a big grin on my face.
"That would be amazing!" Nate yelled causing me to giggle a little.
"How about we hangout Friday night just the three of us?" Sammy suggested.
"That sounds great." I answered as the tardy bell rang signaling Nate to find a seat.

After school I rushed home I couldn't take everyone hounding me with questions. Once I got home I went upstairs to my bedroom changed into leggings, and threw my hair into a messy bun. All I could think after I curled up in bed was thank God the first day is over...
