"So my mom wants to know what you're favorite meal is so she can cook it for you tonight for dinner." Jack said as he walked over to my bed and sat down.
"Oh I don't really care what she cooks." I replied as I sat down next to him.
He sighed. "Well she does so pick."
"I don't know I guess spaghetti and meatballs." I replied.
"You and my mom are going to get along just fine I can already tell." He said with a big smile on his face.
"What if she doesn't like me?"
"Trust me both of my parents will love you."
"I hope so."
"Don't worry too much."
"Okay..."
"So what do we have planned?"
"Umm Nate and Sam are gonna come over and were just gonna chill here."
"Seriously Nate and Sam?"
"What's wrong with that?!" I practically yelled.
"We haven't talked at all since the other day."
"What happened the other day?"
"We got in this big argument about you and the whole Brock thing."
"Oh..." I said getting a little uncomfortable remembering what happened.
"Sorry I brought it up." he said as he went to put a hand on my shoulder causing me to jerk away from him.
"Sorry..." I said
"No it's okay I get it." He said looking down at his hands.
"I've just been really jumpy lately it's just an impulsive thing now."
"This is all Brock's fault I swear if he so much as looks at you or even thinks about looking at you I'm going to kick his ass again." He said as he clenched his jaw causing it to be more prominent than it already was.
"Jack calm down it's fine." I said.
"It is not fine Ava he hurt you!" He yelled.
"Jack..."
"No Ava he hurt you and I wasn't there to stop him I shouldn't have left you alone at that party I should have helped you look for Jack but instead I was off getting drunk.... and there is nothing I can do to change that. From this point on I'm going to protect you no matter what and make sure no one ever hurts you like that ever again. Even if one day you decide you hate me and never want to talk to me ever again I'm going to protect you and make sure something like this never happens again...I'm not going anywhere Ava." He proclaimed with tears brimming in his eyes.
"Jack what happened is not your fault." I said trying to hold my tears back.
"If I would have stayed with you it never would have happened." He replied sobbing.
I didn't know what to do so I held him and ran my fingers through his hair in an attempt to calm him. We sat like that for a few minutes until I heard the doorbell ring.
"Please don't tell the guys I cried like a big baby Ava." he said as he pulled away from me.
I looked into his eyes for a couple of seconds. "I promise I won't tell them." I said before kissing him on the cheek and going downstairs to answer the door.
"Damn Ava when are your parents coming home?" Sammy asked.
"Next week on Thursday I think."
"Oh okay so what's in store for today?" He asked.
"Well from the looks of it, it's just gonna be me, you, Nate, and Gilinsky." I said turning to look at a pissed off Nate.
"Why the hell is he here?" Nate said trying to keep his voice down.
I narrowed my eyes. "Because it's my house...and I invited him."
"I don't like him." He said.
"Well whatever happened the two of you need to fix it."
"Since the two of you have started hanging out he's been acting like he cares about you more than Sam and I do."
"It's not a competition Nate." I said rolling my eyes.
"All I know is he better have some respect I've known you since we were toddlers I'm basically your big brother and I'd like to think you would come to me before dating someone and so far he doesn't make the cut." He said as he crossed his arms.
"We're just friends."
"Okay." Sam laughed.
"What happened to just wanting me to be happy?"
"We do want you to be happy." Nate answered.
"Well being friends with Jack makes me happy so you're just gonna have to suck it up and work through whatever problems the two of you have." I said before turning away and walking upstairs to my room.
"You're alone with him in your room?" Nate said dropping his jaw.
"Ummm yeah you've never had a problem with it before." I said furrowing my eyebrows.
"Well I do now tell him to get down here we're sitting in the living room." Nate said turning around and walking away.
"Whatever." I said as I walked to my bedroom.
"What's going on?" Jack asked.
"Nate's big brother instincts are kicking in he wants us all in the living room." I said rolling my eyes at the thought of Nate treating me like a child.
"Why does he want us in the living room?"
"He doesn't like the idea of you and I being in my room together."
"What the hell?"
"Yeah I told him we're just friends but he won't even take the time to understand that."
"Well let's get down there before he comes up here." Jack said walking past me.
"We need to have a little talk Jack." Nate said leaning back in his seat with his arms crossed.
"Okay..." Jack replied with the confusion clear on his face.
"Are you serious Nate??" I asked getting a bit irritated with Nate's behavior.
His jaw dropped and his eyes got really big before answering. "As a heart attack!" He raised his voice.
"Sammy are you really gonna let him do this?!" I shouted pointing at Nate.
"I can't stop him this is America." Sammy replied.
I furrowed my eyebrows "What does America have to do with this?"
"We have freedom of speech it's in like the constitution or something." he replied shrugging his shoulders.
"Fuck you Sam." I said getting even more pissed off.
"So Jack we need to talk about Ava and your intentions." Nate said.
"Fuck this Jack I'm going upstairs and getting ready for dinner tonight." I said turning my back to them.
"Dinner?" Nate asked.
"Yeah my parents wanted to meet her so they invited her over for dinner." Jack replied with a big grin on his face.
Nate smacked his lips together. "And you say you're just friends."
That was the last thing I heard before going up to my room. When I got to my room I went through my closet and picked out a black dress and a pair of black flats. When I had my clothes out I took a quick shower and got dressed. I was going to do something with my hair but I decided on letting it dry into it's natural waves, and for make up I put on mascara black eye liner and some red lipstick to top it all off.
I was standing in front of my mirror looking at my outfit choice when the door opened. I turned to see Jack standing there looking me up and down with a look on his face I couldn't tell if it was bad or good.
"What...is it too much?" I asked getting worried.
"Nope." He replied.
"You don't like it do you?"
"No I love it you look perfect." he said causing me to blush.
"Okay when are we leaving?" I asked
"Right now, come on." he said reaching for my hand.
"What about Nate and Sam I can't just leave them here?"
"They left right before I came to your room."
"Oh okay let's go then." I said letting out a breath of relief.
The whole drive to his house I couldn't help but feel nervous. When we pulled into his drive way that's when it all set in.
"Jack what if they hate me?" I asked as we walked inside.
"They'll love you trust me." he whispered before giving me a kiss on the cheek.
"Oh Jack you guys are already here?" His dad said as he tapped his moms shoulder to get her attention.
"Mom Dad this is Ava...."
