I watch carefully as Dr. Williams opens up the patients chest to perform the surgery.

I have seen and done a good amount of surgical procedures until now but this is my first time in an open heart surgery.

Everything is going fine until now.

"Dr. Hart, do you think histamine alone was enough in this case?"

My chief, who is performing the surgery, asks all of a sudden.

"No sir, there's a lot of damage to the arterial supply, we had to do the alternate bypass surgery."

I reply instantly.

"Right."

I smile triumphantly under my surgical mask.

The surgery went successful and the patient was shifted to ICU under observation.

I was really tired after working nonstop. My head was throbbing and I felt sleepy.

I close my eyes and lean against the wall as I am sitting outside the OT right now.

I open my eyes when I feel a hand on my shoulder.

To my surprise, it's Dr. Williams.

"Good work today, keep it up."

He pats my shoulder with satisfaction on his face.

"Thankyou sir," I reply and smile.

His few words of appreciation literally made my day. It's in this moment that I realise how hard I have worked to get this few words from my chief.

I smile and get up to change my dress. As my shift was already over, so I leave for home.

It's 3:00 am right now.

I open my apartment door and sadly the lights are off which means Lisa already left.

I make my way to the kitchen and smile as my eyes land on the note attached to the fridge.

I know how tight and unpredictable your schedule is doctor so, no need to worry about me because I am not mad at you until and unless you don't miss our date this weekend. Anyways, I prepared your meal. Heat it and don't forget to eat. I love you!
Your Lisa.

I wonder what did I do to deserve her.

I am sitting in hospital cafeteria right now with Justin. He is the only friend I have here, rest are just my colleagues.

I see him carefully as he rubs his eyes from time to time and yawns literally after every five minutes.

"Didn't you sleep last night?" I finally asks as I take a bite of my club sandwich.

"Not really," he yawns again. "I had this girl come over at my place last night and well, you know-"

"I know, don't tell me the details." I make a disgusted face and he laughs.

"Dude, don't look at me as if I committed a crime, being a doctor does not mean you can't have a private life," he shrugs and gulps his coffee.

"Ofcourse you can but what you are doing isn't healthy for you, why don't you find one girl and stick to her."

He laughs and I watch him with a wtf expression.

"Oh come on, let me enjoy my life dude, not everyone is a saint like you."

"I am not a Saint, and besides being a saint is much better than being a fuck boy like you."

His mouth falls as he heard those words.
