Chapter 3

Hailey POV
"Hey babe?" Marley asked. "Hi honey" I said. She sat down on my bed. "How did you get recruited?" She asked. "Why?" I asked. "I'm curious" she said. "Uh, well ok, I'll tell you" I said.

Flashback
I just came home. "Hey!" Harley said. Harley is my identical twin sister. "Hey" I walked into my room. She ran in after me. "You aren't gonna talk to me?" She asked. I turned around and saw her standing in my doorway. "I am tired. Unlike some people, I go to school" I said. We're fifteen. "You know I cant go to school" she said. She's such a whiner. "Yeah! I know! Because you beat me up!" I yelled. She looked down feeling guilty. She has severe brain damage and has to be gentle with everything she does. "I'm sorry" she said. "Uh huh" I said. She walked out. Our parents are always out with friends and going to parties so they're never here. I don't even want them here. All they do is tear me down.

I'm doing my homework when I hear the front door open. After a few minutes they yelled. "Hailey!" My dad yelled. I ran out of my room. "Yeah dad?" I asked. "Why aren't you hanging out with your sister?" He asked. He's mad. "I have to finish my essay to get my grade up" I said. "I don't care! Go spend time with Harley" he said. "But dad I can't fail" I said. "Go!" He yelled. I stomped into Harleys room. She's asleep. I sat down on the floor and just stared at the carpet.

I'm at school. "Why didn't you do your homework?" Mrs. James asked. "My dad said not too" I said. She picked up her phone. This isn't gonna end well.

After school I stayed behind and my dad came in. "Hailey says that you didn't allow her to finish her essay yesterday" Mrs. James said. I gulped. He's gonna kill me. "What lies are you making up now?" He asked. I looked over at him shocked. "I'm sorry Mrs. James. It seems my daughter doesn't know when to stop lying" he said. I want to cry. "Excuses will not be excepted Hailey. Finish it tonight or I'll give you a zero" Mrs. James said. "Yes ma'am" I said. We went home. "Go play with Harley" he said. "But-" I said. He cut me off. "You've caused enough trouble. Now go" he said. I went into Harleys room. She's just reading a book. I walked up to her and slapped her across the face. She yelped in pain and ran out of the room. "HAILEY!" Dad and Mom yelled. I walked out of the room. "What?" I snapped. My mom smacked my face. I backed away before she could do it again. I ran to the front door and ran out. This is always how they treat me. I hate it. Harley is always the better twin. I ran as far as I could until I reached a bus stop. This was my decision to make. I took twenty dollars out of my back pocket and got on the bus. I took the bus to the city. Now they'll never find me.

I was walking down the street and some guy ran past me. I looked behind me and noticed that a woman looked scared. He took her bag. I ran after him and grabbed the hood of his jacket. He fell backwards. He got up and slammed me into the wall. I was so scared but then two girls peeled him off me and beat him up. One girl picked him up and walked away. "Come with me" the other girl said. I followed her. She saved me and I trusted her. She handed the lady her bag. "Thank you girls" she said and walked away. "You did pretty well kid. For your first mission" she said. "Mission?" I asked. "I work for the secret association of women and we're always looking for new recruits" she said. "Its not much of a secret is it?" I asked. "No. I don't know why they call it that but would you like to train to become an agent?" She asked. I smiled and nodded. We both walked away.

End of flashback
"And that's how I was recruited" I said. "Wow. Did you ever see your family again?" Marley asked. "Yes. On holiday I went back and told them I had gotten a job that was far away and that I didn't need them anymore" I said. "How did they take it?" Marley asked. "They were scared when they first saw me but then my parents got mad at me for running away and not wanting to stay home but my sister was just so happy that I was back. She understood" I said. "Well that's good" she said. "How did you get recruited?" I asked. She got red. She laughed nervously and looked away. I raised an eyebrow. She sighed. "Ok" she said.

Flashback
Marley's POV
I'm running track. I'm sixteen. I tripped on a rock and fell. I heard laughing. I looked up to see my sister and my brother. I'm a triplet. I stood up and kept running past my laughing siblings. I ran through the pain. I hate this. It hurts but I cant stop. If I cant push through it than they'll see my weakness. We're always competing to see whos the strongest. Especially Rachel and I. Rachel is my sister and Dave is my brother. I hate them both. They never show me love, only hate. If I show the slightest bit of pain then they'll tease me for weeks. I ran all the way home. "Hey honey" dad said. "Hi dad" I said. My parents are always nice. They didn't care when I came out. My brother was a little skeptical about it but my sister didn't care. I walked to my room and laid down. "Look whos tired after running" Rachel said. I sat up and looked at her in my doorway. "I'm not tired. I'm just bored" I lied. She rolled her eyes and walked away. I am tired. I'm so tired but I cant do anything about it. I wake up at three every morning and train so that when when my siblings wake up I'll be strong enough for the day.

I'm at school and I bumped into Julie. "Hey Julie" I smiled. She waved, smiled, and walked away. I smiled. She's adorable. If my siblings found out I loved her than I would be in deep shit. Homecoming is soon. Maybe I should ask Julie to be my date.

I was gonna ask Julie tomorrow but when I came home she was on my couch. "Julie what are you doing here?" I asked. "Oh Dave asked me to be his date for homecoming!" She smiled. "Oh ok. Good for you" I faked a smile and walked away. I shut my door and sat down. Julie is bisexual and I knew that but why would Dave go after Julie? After a few hours Dave walked into my room. I was reading. "I win" he said. "What?" I asked. "I got the girl. That means you lose" he said and walked out. He knew. He did it on purpose. I sat there dumbfounded. Great... just great.

At homecoming I was so bored. All my friends had dates. I can see Dave and Julie dancing. She looks beautiful but seeing my brother with her makes me wanna puke. I walked around and ran into someone. I looked up to see my sister. "Look who it is. Guess you finally couldn't catch up" she said. I was so mad. I gripped my fists. "Don't get too mad sis. The faculty's watching" she smirked and walked away. I walked out of the dance and leaned against my car. I heard people yelling. I walked around the corner of the building to see a girl getting beat up by a guy. I pulled him off her, pinned him down, and punched him again and again. He got up and scurried away scared. "Thank you" she said. "Yeah, don't mention it" I said. She walked away. I saw her run up to a girl who was running towards her. "Are you ok? My stuff malfunctioned and I was off track" she said. "Yeah I'm fine. That girl saved me" she said referring to me. I looked over at the two who were now whispering. The other girl walked up to me. I cant see her eyes. She had sunglasses on, which made no sense because its night. "Thank you for saving her" she said. I nodded. I went to walk away but stopped and sighed. If I go back to the dance than I'll be shunned by my siblings. I turned around and the girl was smiling. "What?" I asked. "What if I told you, you could save people all the time" she said. I raised an eyebrow. "I work for the secret association of women and I think you'd be a good addition... if you're interested" she said. "Um sure" I shrugged. "The only catch is that you have to leave all this behind" she said. I turned around and saw my brother and Julie making out near the fence. I turned back around. "I have nothing to leave" I said. "Is that a yes?" She asked. I nodded. "I just have to do one thing first" I said. I walked to the fence. "Dave!" I said. He groaned and looked over. "What?" He asked annoyed. "You can stop using her now. You win. I'm done" I walked away. I could hear them start to argue as I walked away and I smiled.

End of flashback
"Did you ever see your parents again?" Hailey asked. "Yeah. They didn't mind. They told me I could move out if I wanted." I said. "What about your siblings?" She asked. "They were so confused about where I was and it was hilarious. Now I never have to see them" I smiled. She giggled. "I'm glad things didn't work out with you and Julie" she said. "Whys that?" I asked. "Because now you're mine" she said, kissing me. I smiled into the kiss.
