Chapter 4

Emma's POV
Hailey and Marley decided to tell us their recruitment stories. "What about you Emma? How did you get recruited?" Marley asked. I groaned. "Well..." I started.

Flashback
I'm fifteen and I'm riding my bike around the block. I'm just bored. I got home and got hit in the face with a soccer ball. "Ow!" I yelled. "Sorry Em!" Chris yelled grabbing the ball and running off. I have seven brothers and my dad. My mom died when I was ten in a car accident. "Lucas what's for dinner?" I asked. "Leftovers" he said. "Again?" I asked. He shrugged. "You guys are so lazy. You never cook" I groaned. "Bitch you're not any better!" Lucas yelled. "I'm banned from the stove after the paper incident" I said. The boys set their homework on fire because I left the stove on by accident. I love my family but I don't like it here.

Its gotta be midnight. I put my hoodie on and went outside in the rain. I laid down in the driveway as it rained down on me. My dad came outside. "Hi dad" I said. "You're gonna get sick" he said. I sighed. "What's wrong Emma?" he asked. "I'm bored. There's nothing for me here" I said. "You'd rather be in the action of the world" he said. Dad always understands me. "Yeah" I said. "Then go. I wont stop you" he said. "Where am I gonna go?" I asked. "You'll find your way. You always do." He said. I sat up. "Thanks dad" I smiled. "Maybe you should change first" he said. I looked down at my sopping wet hoodie and laughed.

The next morning I grabbed a small bag and hopped on my bike. I want more than I have in this small town. The city is so much more exciting. I rode my bike to the city. My legs started to hurt so I got off and took a break at a park bench. I heard police sirens and turned around. A motorcycle sped by and then a black car and then three police cars. I hopped on my bike and followed them. I took a short cut in the road. I noticed that the black car was trying to get the motorcycle but wasnt the cops. The motorcycle was shooting at the car. The cars tire got hit and the car spun out. Two girls got out but there's no way they could get to the motorcycle in time. I took another short cut and I was in front of the motorcycle, so when the motorcycle came around the corner I threw my bike in the street and the motorcycle flipped. The two girls came up to me. I was scared but they passed me by and went for the guy on the motorcycle. One of the girls came up to me after they got him. "You did a brave thing. Thank you" she said. I nodded. The two girls took the guy and left. I was so confused.

I got a hotel room. I'm so curious about those girls. I pulled out my laptop and did a deep search. I couldn't find anything. I went back to where I flipped that guys bike and looked around. I found something. There's a pair of shattered sunglasses on the ground. I picked them up and walked back to the hotel. The sunglasses had a chip in them. I hacked in and WOW. The amount of data here is insane. There's something called SAW. I don't know what it is. I went to bed not thinking about it. When I woke up I wasnt in the hotel room. I was in a cell. I was so confused. A girl walked up to me. "How did you hack our data frame?" she asked. "I... um... I don't know... the chip was damaged so it just let me in" I shrugged. I heard a door open. "Is this the hacker?" A girl asked. "Yeah" the girl said. She walked up to the cell door. "Oh! You're the girl who caught the motorcycle dude" she recognized me. "What?" The other girl asked. "Let her out. She was probably just curious. She didn't steal anything and she's not a criminal so she has no reason to be in there" she said. "Uh, ok" she said and let me out.

The girl took me to what she called the grub hall. We sat down. I didn't feel like eating. "Where am I?" I asked. "You're in SAW. Its the secret association of women. We're basically lady spies" she said. "Oh ok" I said. I'm slowly processing this. "You would make a good recruit ya know" she said. "You want me? To work here?" I asked. "If you want. Its hard sometimes but its also fun" she said. This means I would be surrounded by girls all the time with no boys and I get to be in action. This could be cool. "Ok. Ill do it" I smiled. She smiled back. "I'm Emily Cooper" she said. I shook her hand.

End of flashback
"Wait? Did you say Emily Cooper?" Marley asked. I nodded. "You got recruited by the Sargent herself!" Hailey asked. I giggled. "Well at the time she wasnt the Sargent" I said. She became Sargent a few years ago. "What level was she at when you met her?" Hailey asked. "Nine" I said. "Wow" Marley said. "Your turn bec" I said. She groaned. "I don't wanna tell mine" she whined. "Come on. Please" I begged. She groaned. "Fine" she huffed.

Flashback
Becca's POV
I'm nineteen. I moved out two years ago. I work for MESA. It doesn't stand for anything. I walked into work and sat down. "What's todays mission?" I asked. "These are our top predators. SAW grows more powerful everyday and we need to take them down" Jackson said. Jackson is the commander and my boss. "So what's the plan" I asked "You're going to Paris to scout out agent 201 of SAW. Remember, quick shot. No evidence." He said. "Yeah I know. No evidence. Quick kill" I repeated. He nodded and handed me a file. I walked to the corridors, changed, and then walked out to the capsules. I took a car and drove to Paris. The organization isn't in the US so its pretty easy to drive to Paris.

I'm at the Eiffel Tower and I'm waiting. I saw agent 201. She's sitting on a side wall just swinging her feet. She doesn't look dangerous. She looks like she's just a normal person. That's when it hit me. A little kid ran up to her. I attuned my ear piece and listened in. "Mommy! Daddy just showed me the glass pyramid place!" She said. The agent picked her up. "That's cool. Where's dad?" She asked. The girl pointed behind her. The man sat down and they had a normal conversation. I cant do this. She has a family. She has a normal life. I cant end that. I cant ruin her families life. I just cant. "Are you there? You're supposed to engage. Go now!" Jackson yelled through my ear piece. I took my ear piece out and smashed it to pieces. I took my invisibility button out and clicked it. We have a lot of cool gadgets. I knew other MESA agents were here and I was going to stop them. I took my tranquilizer gun out. I found the first guy and shot him. He fell in a bush and no one noticed. I found the second girl and shot her in the neck. She fell and someone screamed. Agent 201 looked around and saw the girl I shot. She got tense, pushed the kid onto her husband, and pointed away. He took the girl and walked away. Agent 201 looked around in a panic. I saw the third guy behind her. He was about to shoot but I shot him first. His gun still shot. I quickly ran over to the agent. I pushed her out of the way and grabbed the tranquilizer mid-air. The invisibility was gone. She looked at me in shock. She saw the logo on my shirt and took a step back. I dropped the dart and walked away. She ran after me. "Why did you do that?" She asked. "You have a family. I wont take that from you" I said. She smiled. "Well you cant go back to MESA now" she said. I laughed. "You want me to join SAW?" I asked. She nodded. I rolled my eyes. "MESA will find you. We're your best bet" she said. I stopped in my tracks. I heard the police sirens coming up. I sighed. "Lets go" I said.

"You would pledge your loyalty to SAW after working for MESA?" A woman asked. I nodded. She raised an eyebrow and I rolled my eyes. "Yes. Yes I will" I said annoyed. She thought for a bit. "Alright. Just know that if you're lying, we wont hesitate to kill you" she said. I smirked. "Would that be such a bad thing?" I asked. She smirked back. "Go change" she said and I walked out.

End of flashback
Their jaws are on the floor. "You worked for MESA?!" Hailey shrieked. "This is why I don't talk about my past" I said. Marley hugged me. "Um... what is this?" I asked. "I feel so bad for you now" Marley said. I rolled my eyes. "Its not THAT bad" I said. "Wait if you were nineteen then how old are you now?" Emma asked. "I'm twenty two?" I said confused. "Oh!.. I'm eighteen" Emma said. My eyes widened. I didn't know that. "I'm eighteen too" Hailey said. "I'm nineteen" Marley said. "Wow, I'm dating people three years younger than me" I said. "Its not THAT bad" they mocked me and I laughed.
