Chapter 21

Hailey's POV
Emma, Marley and I are taking a submarine to Silver. We have a very important question.

We knocked on her door. A tall woman with short blonde hair answered. "Can I help you?" She asked. "Is Silver here?" I asked. Silver peeked her head out the door. "Girls! Its ok Veronica. I know them" she said. Veronica walked away. Silver pulled us to her room. "Wow, the sector 7 rooms are really big" Marley said. "What are you all doing here and where's Becca?" She asked. "We know that Becca asked you but, will you marry us?" I asked. She stared at us blankly. "Yes" she said calmly. We smiled. "Also, Becca didn't ask, she just said "Marry me" she said. We laughed. "Yeah, that sounds like beck" Emma said.

We're back home now. "So, Marley, Emma, will you two marry me?" I asked. "Yes" they said. "And will you marry me?" Emma asked Marley. "Yes" Marley smiled. "Yall, really had to ask in every way possible?" Becca asked. I looked over at her. "Yep!" I said. She smiled and rolled her eyes.

My door opened. Its the middle of the night. I expected it to be Emma but when she sat down I realized it wasnt her. I sat up. "Marley?" I asked. She's sitting on the edge of my bed. "Honey come here" I said. She just sat there. Is this some weird nightmare? "Marley?" I touched her. She stared at me. Her eyes watered and her breath is short. "Honey what happened?" I asked. "MESA...." she said. "What about them?" I asked. She just started crying. I pulled her onto me. "Shh. Its ok" I said. I grabbed my phone and texted the girls. Becca burst into my room. Emma slowly walked into my room. "What happened?" Becca asked. Emma took Marley from me and cuddled her. "Can you tell us what happened?" Emma asked softly. "They're gone" Marley whimpered. "Whos gone?" Emma asked softly. "They killed them" Marley sobbed. "What?" Becca asked confused. Marley sobbed harder. "MESA KILLED MY FAMILY" she yelled. We all went silent while she sobbed. "My mom and dad. And my bro-... brother" her breath hitched in her throat as she spoke. I never thought about it. They know everything about Marley. Rachel must have filled them in before she died. I should have seen this coming.

"I came as fast as I could!" Silver ran in. She saw Marley. Becca got up and whispered to Silver what happened. Silver sat down. "Can I?" Silver asked. Emma gave Marley to her. Silver held Marley in the silence. A tear went down Silvers cheek. "Sil, are you ok?" Becca asked. "I get it. I didn't know your family but Rachel really loved to brag about them. She would say that her parents were smart and her brother was strong and her sister... was brave" Sil said. Marley sniffled. "She didn't say that" Marley said. "She did. There was a point in her life when she really loved you Marley. She wanted to make you strong and brave enough to face the world. She never wanted to hurt you. She would do everything in her power to make sure you were ok. MESA promised her that if she joined them, than her family would remain safe. I guess they really meant that" Sil said. "Then why did she try to kill me?" Marley asked. "She never hesitated?" Sil asked.

Flashback
Marley's POV
Rachel threw me onto the ground. She held the gun to my head. Her eyes were watering. She slowly smiled at me. It was a genuine smile. I heard the gunshot. She fell to the ground.
End of flashback

"She did hesitate" I realized. Silver smiled. "She wasnt a bad person. She said that you, Marley, were her biggest accomplishment" Sil said. I cried into her. I miss them. I miss them all.

I hate funerals. I had my girls there. Agents in disguise surrounded us. They were far away to give us space. My families friends and my extended family was there. I have to give a speech. I stepped up. It took all I had not to cry. "Stupid, dumb, weak. All these words were once said to me by my siblings. I see now that they wanted to make me stronger but standing up here, I don't think I've ever felt so weak. Dave eventually apologized to me. Rachel didn't get enough time. I was there when Rachel died and in the last few moments of her life, I knew she loved me. My parents always stood up for me. They stood up for all of us. They were better people than we ever were, or will be. I know most of you know my parents or my siblings as a friend. I know that some of you know them as that random family member that you never remember the name of. I know that some of you could care less about what I'm saying. None the less, I'm grateful that you all came here today. Thank you" I stepped down. The crowd clapped. I took fast deep breaths. I might pass out. I looked around. Everything is blurry. I feel light headed. "Marley?" A girl asked. I snapped out of my trance and turned to face her. "Julie?" I asked shocked. "Hey. Its been awhile. I just wanted to say hi and I'm sorry" she said. "Thank you but why are you here?" I asked. "I figured out what your brother did all those years ago. I wanted to say sorry for being so blind. Besides I figured I'd be here for you" she said. "Thank you Julie and I'm actually glad you were so blind. It was probably the best thing to happen to me" I said. We giggled. "See you around" I walked away. I found my girls. "Who was that?" Silver asked. "Julie" I said. Hailey hugged me. "Can we go home now?" I asked. "Of course" Becca said.

Its been two days. I'm laying on the couch. "Baby are you alright?" Emma asked. "I thought we'd be planning a wedding but instead we attended a funeral" I said. Emma kissed my forehead. "I know. Do you want something? Maybe we can get you something?" She suggested. "No darling. I'm ok" I said. She pouted and walked away. I don't wanna push her away but I need some time to process this. It hurts. I have to be strong now. I'm the last one in my family. At least for now.

Hailey's POV
We got Marley something. Silver arrived and we went to Marley's room. "Babe?" Becca knocked. "Come in" Marley groaned. Becca opened the door and we all walked in. Marley sat up in her bed. "What are you all doing here?" Marley asked. "We got you something that might cheer you up" I said. She raised an eyebrow. "We all agreed that when we get married that we're gonna take your last name" Silver smiled. Marley's eyes widened and she put her hands over her mouth. We smiled. "You girls are the best" Marley whimpered. We all hugged her. Marley smiled. "Did that make you feel better?" Emma asked. Marley nodded. "Everythings gonna be ok babe. We're gonna make sure of it." I said.
