"You're a freaking rockstar, babe!" Aurelia gushes from the passenger's side, shaking her head.
As she does this, her loose waves fall around her angelic face — her hair has gotten so long since I've seen her last. It was only a few weeks ago, almost a month, but I hate that I was away so long that details like that seem brand new to me.
I laugh at her reaction, reaching out to place my hand on her thigh, giving it a gentle squeeze. She continues to shake her head in amazement, while I can only look at her in the same way before I turn my attention back to the road.
I had insisted on driving her car back to The Full Moon, craving that sense of normalcy after being on the road for so long; that normalcy that only Aurelia can provide to me. I can feel the life being breathed back into me with her radiant presence.
There's nothing I love more than performing and seeing all the beautiful faces in the crowds on the road, but nothing can compare to this feeling right now, here in this moment with my golden girl; Aurelia brings me back to life.
"You're crazy, baby," I say with another laugh, reaching my hand up to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear — always behind that sunflower tattoo that I love.
God, I've missed this so much.
Lydia's been practicing on Aurelia now, having run out of space on Jax it seems; I see a new tattoo on Aurelia's thigh, a constellation it looks like. I know she's told me about it before — an homage to Estelle.
"Crazy about you," Ella replies in the sweetest of tones, her voice sounding like honey, and I wish I could drown in it forever.
Well, I most certainly plan on forever; I didn't back down on my promise — I fully intend on marrying Aurelia Moon.
In fact, while we were London, I had snuck off one day while she was out shopping with Mum and Gem. There was always a beautiful little corner jewelry shop in town that I passed by countless times whenever I was home, but I never popped in.
I would always admire the rings and necklaces hanging in the display window, but I never had gone in myself. I always told myself whenever I'd find the woman I'd marry, that would be the day I step foot into the store.
So, on that sunny day in London, the sun shining almost as bright as Aurelia, I stepped foot into the jewelry store for the very first time.
The ring's been lodged in my suitcase behind my clothes for the longest while I wait on the right moment; I know exactly when it is, I just have to mention the plans to Aurelia — I'll bring it up to her tonight.
"Hello?" Aurelia's voice pulls me from my thoughts as I exit the freeway, and I glance in her direction.
She's pulled out her phone to take a call. She sighs, her fingers reaching up to toy with her bottom lip in thought — a habit I know she's picked up from me.
"Okay, great, great!" She suddenly says, a large smile creeping up onto her cheeks. I furrow my brows as she lets out a laugh before she hangs up.
"What was that about?" I ask when she slides her phone back into her purse, raising a brow. Ella's face flushes to a shade of pink, she's so freaking cute.
"It was, uh, just something with the club...but Derek said it was all clear," she speaks quickly, turning her head to look out the window as she plays with her hair. She seems to forget that I can read her as well as Lydia by now; she's nervous.
