"So, what happened with you and that boy?"
The words fall from her lips like a crescendo of schoolyard banter
Like a little kid who won't take no for an answer
It was six months ago. I decided I didnt want him in my life. That's it.
She rolls her eyes, lips heavy with the sound of
mother knows best
And i am struck with the realization
That this fixation
Is nothing new
Nothing original
Nothing incredible
Nothing louder than the sound of my leaving
Finally.
It seems that letting go creates a beautiful desire to untie the knots
Of your tightrope arms
And let the circus act above you
Fall.
