She finally got the courage and strength to confess her feelings, but from the other side of the cafe, I watched as she got rejected. Though to the naked eye, she played it off well, I could see what others can't. Forming behind her, the dark shadows of regret, jealousy, sadness, anxiety, fear, and depression. They loomed over her as their harsh eyes bore into her. As the man walked away, she sighed and slumped down, as she sat there, I watched. Watched her face darken as the truth further sunk into her skin. From behind her I seen the shadows take shape again though now I see the big picture. These shadows are not here from just a rejection. No. They are here as a distraction. They are here to replace something much bigger. As I watched the shadows morph into their true form and combined they became something that could possibly never go away. The shadow of hatred loomed over her body and took control. Every thought, every sight, every breath, reeking of pure unfiltered hatred. Not for other people and certainly not for the man whom she just opened her heart to, but to herself. The shadow bared it's razor sharp teeth as it smiled in the power it had over the girl, it pressed it's hands to her shoulders and pressed her down as it's hot breath trickled down her spine. Her face contorted more as she lay her head to the table, unable to hold up the weight that bared on her small body.
This is a feeling I feel often but this "story" I put to it has never happened.
