Annabeth's feet hurt, and the football game she was cheerleadering at hadn't even started. Not to mention the dance to follow.
It was Homecoming day, and Annabeth had to attend and preform at a pep rally, wait a couple hours for the football game to start, preform at halftime, and then attend the dance for a couple hours.
That's kind of a lot, especially when most of it's on your feet.
At least she was going with her boyfriend this year. Last year she had gone by herself, and three of her not-super-close-friends were there, but she ended up having a terrible time and left early.
"Come on Percy! It'll be fun!" Annabeth was begging him at this point. She had asked him to homecoming several times this week and he denied everytime.
"Last year you said it was the worst time of your life and you never wanted to go again."
"Well, I didn't go with you last year, did I? You know that if I go by myself some guy is going to try to grind up against me. I'm pretty sure the only reason Matthew Tanner stays away from me is because we're always together and he doesn't want to get his ass beat."
Percy grimiced at the thought of someone rubbing up against his girl. Sure they only been dating for a month and three days, (not that he was counting or anything) but he was already protective of her when they were just friends.
"Okay, fine. I'll go. But if I have a terrible time, it's your fault,"
Annabeth practically squealed and hugged him telling him an array of thanks yous.
"Does that mean you're coming to the game to watch me preform?" She didn't want to get her hopes up, but she was pretty excited.
"Well, how else am I going to know when to head over to the school?"
That was a good enough answer for Annabeth.
...
Half an hour before the game started, Annabeth was rallying students, teachers, and parents into the game, telling them to check out their spirit both to play games and buy merch from the cheer team.
"Annabeth!" Lexi, a fellow cheerleader friend of hers, exclaimed. "Someone's here for you!" She smiled and pointed in the direction of the concessions booth, where a kid with messy black hair and a Junior Varsity Cheer Jacket, who seemed to be looking for someone.
Annabeth's face light up. "Can you take my spot? Three minutes?"
"Yeah, go ahead, be quick about it!" Lexi called.
Annabeth rolled her eyes and ran over to Percy, tackling him in a hug. "You made it!" She was smiling so hard her face hurt.
"You think I would miss this? It's the first homecoming your cheering at. Wouldn't miss it if the world was ending."
"You have no idea how much it means that you're here. You look great in my jacket, by the way."
"You look great in uniform."
"Thanks, but this skirt is too short. I'm glad I don't go in the air for stunts, you know I couldn't handle people potentially looking up my skirt."
