Christmas

I can't think of anything for Christmas one shots so here are a couple poor attempts.

Percy loved Christmas. Ever since he was a small child, waking up at the crack of dawn and running to his mother's room, so excited to open presents.

Annabeth didn't like Christmas. Sure, it was nice to have a couple weeks off, but that was about it. Her family never did gifts, and even if they did, she was confident that she wouldn't get any.

What happens when these two opposites meet?

Line break

Percy was so excited for Christmas break. It was Monday morning, and  he was zoning out in his first period science class. His lab partner was late again. He was getting worried about her. The longer school went on, the later she came to class.

That's when Annabeth Chase walked into the classroom. Percy had to admit to himself that he thought she was really pretty. He also got to engage in daily conversations with her, which was pretty amazing.

Annabeth sat down next to Percy.

"Sorry I'm late, I overslept and missed my bus," she whispered, excusing herself.

"You're good, either nothing has happened yet, or I zoned out and forgot and to take notes," Percy  whispered back. They had three more days until the two week break, and he knew both Annabeth and himself were not prepared at all.

The teacher droned on about whatever it was they were supposed to be reviewing, when Annabeth slid her notebook over to Percy across the lab table. He gave her a confused look, and she looked at him, then the notebook, urging her to read the paper. He looked at it.

It read "this class is boring. I did this stuff in eighth grade."

Percy wrote back, with worse handwriting, "I know right," and slid the notebook back to her.

And that's how it went for a while, them sliding Annabeth's notebook back and forth between the two of them. When they got caught, Annabeth fed the teacher a very convincing lie that he was comparing her notes to his for studying later.

After class, Annabeth walked with Percy to his next class, which happened to be in the same wing of the building as her.

"Do you want to study tonight? I feel like I'm going to fail, and your like, the only other person who I can count on the not try making out with me," Annabeth asked.

"Wait, me?" Percy responded, confused.

"Well yeah," she said, playfully smacking his shoulder. "Who else was I talking to?"

"Oh. Yeah, I guess your right."

"So? Do you want to come over to my house?"

"Um, yeah. Yeah. I'll have to check with my mom to make sure we aren't doing anything tonight, but yeah. I should be able to make it."

"I'll text you my address. See you!" Annabeth called, heading into her class, leaving Percy blushing like a tomato and  a stuttering mess.

...

Attempt two.
I hope this is kinda what you wanted @peanutbutterhell

When Percy was little, he thought Christmas meant a day with his Mom, opening presents and eating too much sugar.

Later on, as he got older, it was less about presents and more about avoiding his stepfather Gabe. Sometimes he didn't even come home from his various boarding schools for winter break.

After his stepfather was murdered, a case never solved by local police, Percy came home for the holidays. He came home to new friends, hi mother. And it was amazing.

Years after, he came home to his girlfriend, his mother, more friends, and a second stepfather. This one was much better than Gabe.

Now, present day, at the ripe age of twenty-five, he came home to his loving wife, two kids, a sister, his mother, his second stepfather, and all sorts of friends.

Not my best work, but it is kinda cute.
