Volleyball AU where they are in the same gym class and doing a volleyball unit, only slightly based off of what my friends and I are doing in gym. A meet Percabeth, of sorts.
Skyler POV
Gym class: my least favorite part of the day. But it does have one of my best friends in it, so I guess it won't be terrible if we are on the same team.
We've been playing volleyball for a solid month at this point, and I have to say, we aren't too shabby. Sure, a couple of the guys can't figure out that they need to stay in their place, but that only made me slightly want to stab them.
I know that you think I'm a violent person. I'm not. But some of these boys just make me want to commit homicide, and that's okay.
Anyways, I walked up to a couple other friends of mine, greeting them with our signature clapping. Carol, Jen, Zack, and Blake were waiting in the gym for the rest of the class. Our other friends, Percy and Annabeth, would be joining us shortly. I knew that they would because it was like clockwork. They went to the separate locker rooms to change at the beginning of the hour, and when they were finished they would join us in the gym.
Annabeth was really good at Volleyball, and I have to say it wasn't fair that she was usually picked last to be on a team. I mean, I was always picked last, no matter how good I was at the sport. I knew it was completely rigged, the popular kids would be team captains and either pick the sporty kids or the popular athletic kids, and everyone who didn't fit into those categories was picked last. I knew how it went, but that didn't mean it doesn't hurt a little bit every time...
No matter though, I had enough friends that it was highly unlikely to be all by myself on a team.
Which brings me to now.
Annabeth came out of the locker room and crossed the waxed gym floor over to us.
"Hey girl hey!" Jen greeted, offering a high-five, which Annabeth gladly obliged.
"You saw me an hour ago at lunch," Annabeth said. Her blonde curly hair was tied into a low ponytail at the nape of her neck.
Jen shrugged.
Percy jogged over to us, waving over at the athletes huddled by the guys locker room, who almost all waved back.
"Hey guys. How's it going?" He rested his arm on Annabeth's shoulder and glanced over his shoulder, making sure that our gym teacher wasn't looking, before giving her a quick peck on the check. Our gym teacher, Mr. Pancakes, was a fairly fit young man, maybe thirty-five. He had a very strict PDA policy, and it was, 'don't do it.'
"Eh. Not too shabby," I said. Everyone looked in my direction. I set my hands on my hips. "He asked all of us. I don't know why you're looking at my like that."
A couple of freshman boys started setting up the volleyball net, forcing us to move over to where the athletic kids were at.
Mr. Pancakes started putting us into teams.
I was on a team with ten other people, two of them being Zack and Annabeth, but I was forced to the other side of the court from Annabeth.
I was alone in rotation.
This would be fun.
Annabeth was really good at volleyball. We worked well together, with me setting the ball into the air, and her spiking it over the next. Annabeth looked around the court, and upon seeing me on the opposite side from her, frowned and made me switch with a scrawny kid, Timothy, who was also pretty good at the game.
After a very intense game of volleyball and a lot of trash talk, we switched sides and played the second game. Annabeth and Percy were across from each other in the front row, and instead of being cute or giving words of affirmation and positivity, they glared at each other and talked a lot of smack.
"Jackson, I hope your mentally prepared to lose this game," Annabeth told him, cracking her knuckles and stretching out her arms.
"Well Chase, I hope your ready to lose. We already won the first game. We can beat you again. And we will," Percy replied.
"We'll see about that."
With that, the game began.
If I didn't know them outside of gym class, I would've thought that they hated each other.
...
That's why most people are confused when they are caught kissing in the parking lot after school.
Whenever anyone tried to get them to stop, either they would go at it harder, or tell the person that school was out for session and they could do whatever they wanted.

I have been working on this for literally three months. I could not for the life of me figure out how to end this.
