31. Surprise

"Okay, you have to promise me you won't be mad alright kei?"

(Y/n) stood in front of the bedroom door, blocking keigo from being able to step foot inside.

His eyebrows turned his expression confused.
"Uh okay I promise. Now what are you hiding in there."

She let out a sigh before stepping off the door and pushing it open. After a few seconds with nothing happening, a little brown Labrador puppy poked his nose out the door.

Keigo looked up from the puppy to (y/n) back down to the puppy before going back up to her.

"Baby-"

"Look I know what you're going to say, but, I had no choice. This guy on the side of the road on my way to work today had him in a box."
She paused and crouched down to pick him up.
"he was trying to give him away. For free! A little puppy for free! And the guy seemed sketchy I think he might of killed him if he wasn't given away"

"He wouldn't of killed him angel, he probably would of taken him to a pound."

"Keigo, they kill puppies at pounds"

The two both whispered 'kill' as if the puppy would understand.

"I swear, I'll look after him myself. I'll make sure he won't bother you. Please kei"
You asked as you held the puppy closer to his face as your eyes began to turn glossy.

He sighed again before placing his hand on his forehead.
"What's his name"

Your lips that were in a pout, turned into a bright smile as you place him down and wrapped your arms around keigo.

"Thankyou Thankyou so much. His name is Karlos"

Once you both pulled away, keigo gave you a skeptical look.
"Karlos? For a puppy"

"Yes, Karl for short"

"God you're crazy"

Later on that evening, (y/n) sat on the floor in the living room playing with her dog while keigo sat next to her. He had never had a pet growing up and officially, Carlos was his first.

The brown dog made his way over to keigo and dropped his toy at his feet. Keigo looked confused.

"You throw it"
She said.

"I throw the puppy-"

"What no of course not. The toy. Throw it. He'll bring it back"
She chuckled.

He did as she said and picked up and threw the small rope toy so the puppy could chase it.

Once the dog retrieved the toy, he came right back in front of keigo and dropped it once again at his feet. Keigo coudltn help but smile and patted his head.

"Good boy"
She said referring to keigo rather than the dog.

The little game the two were playing, progressed over the hour to keigo excitedly running and dodging around the furniture as the puppy chased him. Keigos laughs filled the room as he easily ran faster than the puppy and his small legs.

His laughs were cut short when he ran straight into a wall.

This cause (y/n) to break out in laughter this time. The dog trotted over to keigo who now was laid on the floor, rubbing his head. The dog sat next to his head and began licking his face.

You walked over and helped him up while you made fun of him for being so uncoordinated.

Later that night, after tiring yourselves out, you, keigo and Karlos all fell asleep on the couch. You awoke to head to the bathroom and as you turned to keigo who was still fast asleep, you noticed that Karlos laid on his chest, snuggling in his neck.

A smile grew on your face as you pulled out your phone and took a photo.
"And he said he didn't want a dog"
You said to yourself smugly

I'm not aloud pets in real life so writing this made me feel hella sad :(
I was going to leave the dogs breed as whatever you choose it to be because everyone has different types but I realised that I've never met anyone who ever hated Labradors so I just went with it :)
Also karlos is kind of a crack name for a dog which I love
