Prologue

The past: A friendship during the 90's

The inseparable friends.

That's what they were, Jean and Andrew.

Nothing could break them apart, not even the worst hardships they faced throughout their lives.

They were childhood friends. They shared everything, even their house, since both of them were orphans and were looked after by a nice old woman who took them in when they were only five years old.

Andrew was more outgoing, extroverted and confident, while Jean was shy, introverted and very studious. But those differences never affected their friendship; in fact, it just made it more compatible. Their differences made them complete each other.

They were like brothers.

Andrew initially wanted to be a cop when he grew up, and Jean wanted to be a lawyer. They promised to work together, maybe even in the same cities. The former wanted to wipe out the crime and corruption in his country while the latter wanted to work towards a developed nation.

But their plan was destroyed when Andrew couldn't complete his education due to various personal issues, especially his school bullies. Jean managed to top the school and reached his goal soon. Andrew never envied him in any way, and Jean never thought of Andrew as a failed person. They were happy for each other.

Until certain things started happening.

Both started working on the exact opposite sides of the law.

Jean became a lawyer like he always wanted to, and young Andrew couldn't find a job for himself because of his lack of experience and education. Thus, this changed him for the worse.

He joined certain gangs nearby his place. Gangs which committed criminal activities like selling drugs and illegal mining. But there was one thing remarkable about him - he never once harmed any innocent person. He was kind-hearted and just, still working towards removing only the corrupted people - people who hurt others. He wanted to work like a vigilante, but he couldn't go as far as to kill anyone due to Jean's requests. So, Jean and Andrew still remained best friends, even though Jean despised Andrew's activities and tried to change his ways, questioning him almost daily. But Andrew never agreed with Jean and ignored him. Gradually, they stopped talking about it.

Their friendship would've lasted forever hadn't a particular something...or rather someone, entered their lives...

Destroying their friendship forever and not even giving them a chance to say goodbye to each other.
