"Check."

"Tsk."

That was the third time Nachio had been put in check. It may not have looked like it but he was pissed. How did he always manage to trap him everytime?

A small chuckle left his friend's lips as he received a scowl from the rather tired male.

"Relax, you haven't lost!"

"Yet." Nachio said with a frown.

"You never know! I could make a mistake."

Nachio raised his eyebrow.

"Then, you can strike and leave me in the dust."

"You make it sound so easy." Nachio sighed.

The other male tilted his head. His eyes never leaving his. Nachio wasn't even sure if he ever blinked.

"Isn't it?"

"Ha, against you? I wish!"

"Aw, you flatter me. Disgusting really."

The two continued to play if you could even call it playing. More like Nachio trying his best to move around and not lose again to his white-haired friend. In the end he knew he'd lose anyway. He'd already accepted that, but it was the way he'd lose that would always surprise him.

"What's the prize?"

This made the tired male look up.

"What do you mean?"

His friend smiled at him.

"If I win, what do I get?"

Nachio thought for a moment before shrugging.

"I don't know. What do you want?"

He didn't answer that time.

"Please don't let it be anything expensive."

"It's nothing money related. I know you're broke anyway!"

"You wound me."

It was another few moments of playing until it happened. He was right open! Now was his chance, but...
it felt off. There was no way that he made a mistake this far.

'No, something's up.'
Just as Nachio predicted, his friend was distracted. He was looking out the window next to them.

"What is it?" Nachio asked him.

"Look.."

Nachio hesitantly turned to the window. For a moment, he wasn't sure what he was looking for until...

"What's she doing here?"

Before he could question the weird appearance any farther, the girl turned. Panicking, Nachio dragged his friend to the ground.

After a few agonizing seconds, he checked the window to see that she had left. At least, he hoped so.

"Why is she here?" He asked mostly to himself.

"Hmm.."

His friend sat up.

"I think we should go."

It wasn't a bad idea. They had been in school for longer than they should've. But still it was weird.

"Yeah but what about-Oww!"

He was cut off by a bite on his hand. He tried yanking it back but it hurt even more.

"W-what the hell?"

Finally he let go of his hand.

"Go home, Nachio."

Nachio stared into his friend's eyes for a moment. Then, with a tired sigh, he packed up his things and left.

"Don't do anything stupid, alright?"

"No promises!"

He sighed once more.

As he arrived at the school's entrance a voice stopped him.

"I could see you, y'know."

"Yeah well, you aren't the best when it comes to being secretive." He narrowed his eyes at her.

"Aw, my feelings! Not that it matters, you're not my type anyway. Yet anyway."

"Gross."

"Come on, join me! It'll be fun!"

Nachio continued walking.

"As enticing that sounds, I'll have to decline."

The girl frowned at this.

"Besides," he pulled a gun out of his jacket, "You're very boring, y'know."

*Click*

"So boring, I'd hate to be around you." Nachio smiled before walking back home leaving the girl.

'Don't worry, I'll put you in checkmate. And that's a promise."
