you attempted to quickly copy down the notes from the board as your science professor lectured the class. you were becoming bored and wanted to leave, but at least glancing towards the boy a few seats away from you was a nice distraction. you just couldn't help yourself. he was cute, and you always needed to take just one more look at his face.

his name was tyler, but that was about as much as you knew about him. you'd never had an actual conversation with him, and you couldn't imagine it ever happening either. you didn't really have any reason to speak with him, as much as you wanted to. you noticed that he usually kept to himself, unless he was hanging around a few of his friends, so you figured he wasn't the type to make tons of random friends.

eventually, the professor's voice announcing that she was going to be splitting people into groups grabbed your attention, forcing you to shift your gaze from tyler over to her. since she was making people who sat near each other work together, you hoped that he would be put with you.

when you saw that you, tyler, and a few people around you were the only ones left, you felt a pang of anxiety. he was actually going to be in your group. what were you going to say to him? what if you accidentally said something stupid? you tried to convince yourself that it was fine, that he probably wouldn't even give anything you said a second thought.

you all scooted your desks closer together, tyler's right next to yours. you tried not to look at him, to look anywhere but his face.

"what's your guys' name? i'm tyler," he started once everyone was situated. since there were so many people in your class, most people didn't know each other.

the other people introduced themselves next, until you were the only one left. "i'm y/n," you said with a smile, sneaking a quick glance at the brunet boy next to you.

"cool. it's nice to meet you," he replied. that sent a wave of butterflies through your stomach, although you knew that he was probably just talking to everyone at the table rather than you in particular.

you continued to work together on the worksheet you had gotten, occasionally giving your input, especially when tyler was the one to ask something. when you guys finished, you started talking amongst yourselves.

"what are you guys going to school for?" you had managed to ask. you tried to specifically look in tyler's direction when asking, hoping that he'd answer.

"i'm actually here for basketball," he mentioned.

"oh, you're on the school team?" you hoped that he didn't notice how nervous he was making you.

"yeah," he responded with a smile. "you guys should come to a game sometime," he added. you nodded your head, thinking about how genuinely cool it was that he was on the college basketball team. he must've been really good.

when the class was over, you watched as tyler threw his backpack over his shoulder, leaving the room. you followed behind, admiring how pretty he looked by just simply walking down the hall. you needed to talk to him again. you just weren't sure how.

you soon found yourself at your college's next basketball game, which just so happened to be that weekend. you dragged one of your friends along, not being able to fully explain to her why you wanted to go. you just told her it'd be a fun thing to do when you were bored, but you weren't sure that she believed you.

the both of you sat in an empty spot on the bleachers, beginning to watch the game. as all of the players ran around, your eyes danced across the court, searching for tyler.

"are you looking for someone?" your friend alana asked, raising an eyebrow.

"what? why would you say that?" you tried to mask your nervousness with confusion. she was definitely onto you, but you weren't sure how to explain to her that you came here just to see a boy who you hardly knew.
