you were usually thankful for the nights spent in hotels during tour. sleeping in a bus was never much fun, not with those small confined spaces you were often forced to sleep in. so when you found out that you would get to stay in an actual bedroom for the night, you were overjoyed. you needed to sleep in a bigger space, for once.

you were originally supposed to have your own room, but upon entering the lobby and speaking with the woman at the counter, she had informed you that the single room you thought you had booked was not available at the moment, and so you'd have to take a room with somebody else. you were slightly disappointed by this because you were definitely looking forward to having your own space, but you could deal with it. as long as you got to sleep in a nice warm bed.

"i'm the only one with an extra bed," tyler said, looking over to you. your heart skipped a beat at the idea of getting to stay in the same room as him. tyler was your friend, so it shouldn't have been too strange. but you happened to have a big crush on him, so sleeping so near to him was an exhilarating thought.

"i can stay with you, if that's okay," you replied. tyler agreed, and so it was settled that you'd be sharing the room together. you took your luggage with you as you entered the elevator and made it up to your floor, before you eventually found your room.

the first thing that tyler did was fall back onto one of the beds, stretching his arms out. you smiled at that, allowing yourself to lay down on the other bed. "i'm so glad to be out of the bus," you said with a contented sigh.

"same. i already want to get under the covers." he turned his head toward you, his lips slightly curved upwards. he looked so effortlessly beautiful just lying there, and you wanted so badly to just lay beside him, to look at his face from an even closer angle.

you had known tyler for a long time now. you had joined his crew earlier on in his career, and had been part of it ever since. even though you technically worked for him, he was still your friend. the both of you had often hung out together outside of touring, and during tour, you were always one of the people tyler stuck around with. he invited you out to dinner with his friends, and had always included you in his plans. you knew he cared about you. you just might have cared about him in a slightly different way.

"you should."

"i think i will." he sat up, opening the backpack he had brought with him. "but first i'm going to shower." you watched as he pulled out his clothes and then got up and walked into the bathroom. you decided to change into your own clothes while he was in there.

since the shower and bathroom was in it's own enclosed room, you were able to use the sink to brush your teeth and get ready for bed. once you were finished, you made yourself comfortable under the covers and turned on the tv. when tyler finally came out, his hair was still a bit wet, and you could smell the scent of his body wash when he walked past you. it was that boyish cologne type scent, and you wanted so badly to be closer to him, if only to smell it more.

he was laying down in his own bed, the both of you watching whatever was on tv and only talking occasionally. eventually, you looked over to see that tyler's eyes were closed, so you shut the tv and the lights on the nightstand between your beds off. you tried to fall asleep yourself, but for some reason, tonight, it was becoming a bit too difficult.

you kept feeling surges of panic throughout your body, but you couldn't think of anything that would've been causing it. and the more you thought about that terrifying feeling, the more scared you felt. you laid there for a while in complete silence, left alone to nothing but your thoughts. all you could think about was not being able to fall asleep, and this pulsing unexplainable fear. at some point, you decided you had enough, so you sat up in bed, trying to hold back tears that were ready to spill out. but as another wave of panic overcame you, you couldn't help it. without meaning to, a soft cry escaped your throat. you attempted to stifle the sounds, but you were crying so much you couldn't.

you heard movement from tyler's bed, but you couldn't bother to look over at him. you were too lost in your own tears that it didn't matter. but then you felt the bed sink beside you, and a hand rested gently on your thigh.

"are you okay?" his voice asked ever so softly. you shook your head, attempting to look up at him. although the room was dark, you could make out his comforting and caring gaze. "do you wanna talk about what's wrong?"

"i don't know what's wrong," you admitted, your voice shaky and your nose stuffed. "i'm scared, but i don't know why. i know it makes no sense."

"it makes sense." his hand was now carefully rubbing against your leg.

"how?"

"anxiety doesn't need a reason. sometimes it just happens," he told you. you sniffled, trying to clear your nose. "do you wanna lay beside me tonight?" without even having to consider his offer, you nodded your head. being alone made it even harder to deal with these feelings.

he stood up, so you followed after him and climbed into his bed with him. he pulled the covers up over the both of you, and wrapped an arm around your shoulder. you leaned into his embrace, pressing your face against his chest. he was so unbelievably soft and comfortable, you couldn't help but tangle your arms around his back, squeezing him to you. "i'm sorry," you whispered, a few more tears dripping down your cheeks.

"why are you sorry?" you could feel the vibrations of his voice against your face as he soothingly rubbed his hand up and down your back.

"because i woke you up."

he quietly laughed at that. "you're more important than sleep."

"really?" you asked.

"of course," he replied, placing a kiss on the top of your head. you felt your stomach tumble, and for once you knew that the feeling wasn't anxiety.

"i like that," you mumbled against him.

"should i keep doing it?"

"if you don't mind."

he left more kisses on your head, letting his lips linger there for a while. you picked your head up to look at him, and his face was so very close. he smiled, pressing his lips against yours for a split second before pulling away. you returned his smile, your face heating up as you snuggled into his chest once more. this time, you were actually able to fall asleep as as he held you close.
