It had been three months. Three blissful, painful months where Remus paid to play make-believe that someone actually cared that he was around.
Had it really been that long already?
Everything had quickly become a whirlwind of moments, the only real markers of time for him being the evenings he spent with Aura and Jinx, everything else a blur of his hotel room and random places in the city he visited to waste time during his little "vacation."
Remus laid on the bed in what he had come to think of as their room in the club, arms pillowed beneath his head and one leg swung over the other, staring at the cracked ceiling as he reflected on the reality that he was alone again.
It had been a truly beautiful night. For a little while, just a few short hours, he had let himself believe his own lie. He got to pretend that he truly made love with someone who reciprocated, as if it was more than just another paid night for Jinx.
"You okay? It doesn't hurt?" Remus asked as he bottomed out in Jinx.
The flushed face of his lover, no, partner smiled up at him, blinking dazedly.
"Yes, I'm fine," he murmured, mismatched eyes drifting all over Remus' face. He tugged his interlaced fingers against the back of Remus' neck, pulling him down to bring their mouths together for a lazy kiss. Jinx caught Remus' lower lip between his teeth, swiping his tongue across the chapped skin, drawing out the slow kiss even longer.
With a roll of his hips, Remus started thrusting, focusing on Jinx's responses over his own satisfaction, wanting only to hear the man beneath him moan and mewl and sigh in pleasure.
"Mmmmm," Jinx shut his eyes and rubbed Remus' shoulders from nape to blade and back. He looked content, maybe even in bliss, his face as relaxed as Remus had ever seen it.
"Thought you wanted to see me," Remus teased.
Jinx's eyes fluttered open, his lovely, long lashes framing his darkened, dilated pupils, filled not with lust but something... softer. Like morning light, golden and shining through those barely-open eyes.
"I do see you," he whispered, smiling.
A shiver ran down Remus' spine at the way Jinx whispered those words. The intimacy of it all, having what he so hopelessly, desperately wanted so close and literally within his grasp, but eternally out of reach... god, it hurt so good. Remus wanted to return the sentiment by giving Jinx every bit of bliss and happiness he deserved. He thrust harder, trying to push Jinx closer to the edge, driven just that little bit further by each wanting, wretched whimper that escaped Jinx's throat.
"You see me every week, though. Not enough for you?" He shouldn't be playing this game. He would only get burned. But he couldn't help himself. Not when it came to Jinx.
"How could I not want to see such striking emerald eyes? Such incredibly soft hair? That impeccably bright smile? Cheekbones that could cut diamond? Even your mustache has its charm. All this loveliness, especially up close? How could I resist?" Jinx's sweet, gentle smile, coupled with the soft caress of his palm on Remus' jaw and the tender brush of his thumb across his cheekbone pushed him over the edge. With stuttering, frenetic thrusts, Remus lowered himself to kiss the other man just as he came deep inside of him, faintly aware of the sticky moisture of Jinx's orgasm growing between them, stifling Jinx's cries with his lips as they finished together.
After a moment, Remus pulled out and tried to get up, intending to go grab a towel and clean the both of them off like he'd done so many times now, but Jinx locked both ankles around his thighs and tightened his grip around Remus' neck, refusing to let him go.
