Chapter 8 (Romance of the Three Kingdoms)

Reinhard noticed the royal insignia glow in Ram's hand. He immediately stood up from his seat. Emilia and Ram turned their heads when they heard the chair move forward, and saw Reinhard staring at the royal insignia in Ram's palm. Confused Ram looked down at her palm and saw the insignia glowing

Subaru heard Emilia fall in the dining room, and walked out to check what was happening. He noticed Reinhard stare at Rams palm. He looked over at her palm and noticed she was holding Emilia's royal insignia

He looked in astonishment as the insignia glowed in her hand. Subaru quickly remembered hearing that the royal candidates were chosen through the insignia

"R-Ram... The insignia... It's..." Subaru couldn't believe the insignia choose Ram to be a royal candidate

"Ram you are going to be coming with me back to the capital" Reinhard said as he walked up to Ram with a serious expression on his face. Ram looked at Reinhard a little intimidated by his tall posture as he walked up to her. He grabbed onto Ram's arm tightly

"Wait, hold on for a minute!" Ram yelled out. She was knocked unconscious by Reinhard draining her mana. Her body suddenly became limp, she was still held up by Reinhard. Reinhard grabbed the royal insignia in Rams hand before it fell to the floor

"I believe this belongs to you" Reinhard held out the insignia to Emilia. Emilia got up and took the insignia from his hand

"Thank you..." Emilia said awkwardly. She slowly placed it back in her pocket

"Anyway, thank you very much for the dinner Subaru. I had an excellent time. I will be on my way now, I hope to meet again" Reinhard said as he picked up Ram bridal style

"Wait, what about Ram?" Subaru asked

"Ram will be needing to come with me back to the capital. It is of utmost priority that I bring her to the council at once " Reinhard said as he made his way out of the dining room

Subaru didn't know if he should try and stop him. He knew Reinhard will bring Ram to the capital no matter what, so fighting him won't do much good. It wasn't like Subaru could win. Emilia and Subaru stood in silence not knowing what to say

Rem eventually came out of the kitchen looking for Subaru. She noticed the Reinhard and Ram were missing from the dining room

"Subaru where's Nee-Sama and her date?" Rem asked. Subaru and Emilia both turned to look at her

"Rem I don't know how to put this, but Reinhard took her to the capital" Subaru said. Rems mouth opened

"Why!?" Rem asked

"Reinhard noticed Emilia's royal insignia glow in her hand, and if I remember correctly that means your sister will be entered into the royal election as the fifth candidate" Subaru said. Rems facial expression did not change

"Wait, Nee-Sama is going into the royal election!?"

"That's what it seems like Rem" Subaru said

"Why Nee-Sama!?" Rem asked

"I don't know Rem. I honestly have no idea why she was chosen" Subaru said. Rem could not believe her own sister was going into the royal election. She didn't know what to think. On one side she was happy she was chosen. On the other she was concerned what will happen to her

"What's going to happen now? When can I see her?" Rem asked. She wanted to see her sister get further insight on what's happening to her

"Well since they found a replacement royal candidate, I am pretty sure they're going to call an election meeting. We could all go together and meet her there" Emilia said
