AURORA WAS IN THE HALL IN A
guards uniform, the crew didn't have any need of her during this performance, only during the fete in the daytime. Her and Kaz managed to sneak past two Heartrenders and made it downstairs, meeting Inej.
Aurora handed her the uniform, "Is it my size?" Inej asked, the question aimed more at Kaz as she remembered what happened when he got her a mand uniform.
"Yes, now change," Kaz said and Inej rolled her eyes, walking into the other room to get changed.
"You have to be so harsh don't you," Aurora said as she watched him lean against the column.
He was about to speak before Arken rushed down, Kaz handing him the outfit to change into.
"See you at the meeting point," Arken said, Kaz and Aurora nodding before looking at each other suspiciously.
"I'll meet you upstairs Aurora," Kaz said, turning to leave as he didn't want to start another argument.
"See you later asshole," she called after him, rolling her eyes as she waited for Inej.
Inej chuckled as she walked out in her guards uniform, "You and Kaz are so weird," she said before Aurora shot her a confused glance, "The whole argue flirting thing,"
"I don't know what you're talking about," Aurora said, a faint blush on her cheeks as the two walked upstairs.
They met Kaz as he stood guard, watching as the sun summoner entered.
"Its reflective glass, you bounce the light into that and people won't know whether it's coming or going," he stated, not looking at the girls as he focused on the sun summoner.
Inej sighed, just walking away as she ignored his skepticism. Aurora stood back, trying to make the distance seem normal as they watched the procession.
General Kirigan gave some speech before he stepped off stage, darkening the room. Aurora felt her stomach drop, a hand clutching the side of the wall as she watched.
The girl summoned the light, it wasn't some party trick, it really was her - the sun summoner.
She looked over at Inej and watched as she placed a hand over her heart, muttering to herself about how wonderful it was.
