Maggie heard a knock on her door just after getting dressed for her party. She chose a long blue dress, knowing it was Steve's favorite color. It was off the shoulder, a-line with a slit up the side. "Come in." She turned around to see Thor enter her room.
"Little one. Wow. You look beautiful." He handed her a box, "happy birthday."
Maggie smiled up at him as she accepted the gift, "Thor. I don't need anything." He nodded encouragement for her to open it. She unwrapped the gold paper, letting it fall to the floor to display a velvet box. She opened it to find a beautiful silver necklace with a big blue pendant. "It's beautiful Thor!"
He reached out, grabbing the necklace, "I had it made for you on Asgard while I was away." He held it up as she turned so he could place it around her neck.
She turned back to him, placing her hand on his cheek before gently kissing him on the lips. "Thank you Thor."
"Come on, let's get you to your party little one." He opened her door, motioning for her to walk ahead of him.
"I'll meet you down there Thor." He hesitated, but nodded and left her in the hallway. She opened the door to Steve's room to find it empty. She sighed, she had been hoping he would walk her down. She closed his door and walked alone to the door of the party.
She smiled when she heard him behind her, "you really look like a princess tonight."
She turned around to find Steve smiling down at her, "Steve. I thought you went to the party without me." She wrapped her hands around his neck as he grabbed her waist.
"Never princess. I wanted to escort you inside." He leaned down, kissing her softly as his tongue gently parted her lips, making her moan softly. He pulled away slightly, looking at her necklace, grabbing the pendant delicately, "pretty."
"It was Thor's present to me. I'm more interested in your present for me."
Steve smirked down at her, raising one eyebrow, knowing it drove her crazy when he did, "who says I have one for you?"
She grabbed his hand as she led him into the party, "you better, Captain." She heard him laugh as she led him to the dance floor, "dance with me."
"Whatever you want princess." He grabbed her waist, pulling her close to him as she placed her hands on his neck.
"Then kiss me." He moaned softly as he obliged, kissing her. Her tongue found his as she ran her fingers through his hair. She pulled away, looking at him as the song changed to Just What I Needed by The Cars.
She grinned up at him, "did you do this?"
He caressed her cheek with his hand, "I told you, it's our song. I already had feelings for you, but I think that was the moment that I knew I loved you." He leaned down to her ear, "cause when you're standing oh so near, I kinda lose my mind."
"Oh Steve. I love you." She wiped away a tear as she kissed him.
When the song ended, she pulled away from him, going to the bar for a drink. "I have a present for you." She turned around to smile at Loki as he handed her a long box. She set the box on the bar, removing the lid. Inside she found a pair of daggers with silver sheaths and blue jewels encrusted on the black hilts.
She looked up at Loki who was smirking mischievously, "I love them Loki. They're beautiful. Thank you." She stood up and wrapped him in a hug.
"You're welcome pet. I had them made for you."
"They're perfect Loki. Thank you." She looked behind him to see Steve motioning for her to join him on the couch. She left Loki and sat next to Steve.
"You want your present?" He bit his lip as he watched her grinning.
"You know I do." She watched him reach behind the couch pulling out a big present. She knew instantly it was the painting he did on their date that he wouldn't let her see. She watched him kneel down in front of her on the floor as she opened it. It was a portrait of her. He got every detail, the color of her eyes, the shade of brown of her hair. She started to cry as she saw he had painted her as a princess with a little tiara on her heard.
"Do you like it?"
She set it to the side as she looked at him, "it's perfect Steve. Thank you." She wrapped her arms around his neck as she rested her forehead on his. "You painted this before you started calling me princess. And before I dyed my hair back."
"You're my princess. Always."
She bit her lip as she stood up, grabbing his hand, "think anyone will notice if we disappear for a few minutes?"
Steve laughed as he let her lead him, "well it is your party, so probably. Yes."
Just before she reached the door of the party a girl entered. The red head that Steve had fought, that stole his shield. Steve pushed Maggie behind him, holding his arm up.
The red head threw his shield on the floor in front of him, "I came to return this." The girl was injured, a gunshot in her stomach that she clutched with one hand as she removed her mask with the other.
Maggie threw her hand to her mouth as she heard gasps around her. It couldn't be. She tried to walk to her but Steve stopped her, "Steve, she's injured. Look at her." Maggie couldn't control her tears as the girl locked eyes with her.
"Is this party for me, sister?" The girl collapsed to her knees as Maggie tried to run for her.
"Margaret, no. She could still be dangerous."
She didn't heed Steve's warnings as she pushed him away, running to her sister. She wrapped her arms around her as she collapsed in Maggie's arms, "Madelyn? How is this possible?"
Her sister looked up at her and smiled, "surprise. Happy birthday." Madelyn passed out in her arms as Steve scooped her up, carrying her to the lab.
Tony came into the lab, "conference room. Now. Everyone." Maggie hesitated but followed Steve and everyone to the conference room.
"Before anyone asks, I don't know." She looked at Steve, "as far as I was aware, my sister died in the red room. That's what they told me. They took her and she never came back. They said she died." She started to cry again as Steve pulled her into his lap.
"Shh. It's okay love."
