Chapter 19

Maggie couldn't sleep so she slipped out of Steve's bed. She found Bucky leaning against Maddy's door. "What are you doing Buck?"

He looked up at her, "I don't trust her. I don't want her wandering around." Maggie didn't say anything as she walked to the kitchen, returning with ice cream and two spoons. Bucky laughed as she sat next to him on the floor, handing him a spoon. "You don't have to sit out here with me doll."

"I know. But she's my sister, she's my responsibility."

Bucky leaned over, grabbing the ice cream, "you don't have to do it alone. We're all here for you Maggie. We all love you."

"Thank you Buck." She looked up at him, still eating the ice cream, "what did my mother tell you exactly?"

Bucky looked at her, handing her back the ice cream, "she told me you had trouble opening up to people. That you wouldn't even talk to your parents for the first year you were with them. And that you had a twin in the red room that didn't make it, and it affected you."

Maggie sighed as she sat the ice cream to the side, resting her head on Bucky's shoulder. "I'm sorry Buck."

"For what doll?" He placed his hand on her thigh, gently squeezing.

She looked up at him, "for hurting you. If I did. I really did want to be with you. A part of me still does. I'm just in love with Steve. I'm sorry."

"I know doll. It's fine." He placed his hand on her cheek, pulling her lips to his, making her let out a small moan. "I'm still gonna hold out hope for a little while longer."

Maggie laughed before kissing him again, this time finding his tongue. She pulled away, looking at him for a moment, wanting to kiss him again. Instead she placed her head back on his shoulder, holding his hand. "I love you James."

Steve woke up to an empty bed. He dressed quickly before exiting his room. Steve laughed when he found Maggie and Bucky asleep, both leaning on Maddy's door, melted ice cream sitting next to them. Before he could wake them up Maddy opened the door, making them both fall backwards, waking up to an annoyed Maddy. She smirked down at them, "well this is cozy."

Maggie groaned as she sat up seeing Steve holding out his hand to her. "Hi."

"Good morning love." Steve smiled, kissing her on the cheek, "go get dressed." He looked at Bucky, "you too Buck."

They both nodded and did as he said. Steve turned to Maddy, crossing his arms, "so. You won't be allowed to go anywhere by yourself. Buck or I will be with you at all times. Until we know we can trust you."

Maddy took a step towards Steve, running her hand along his chest, "you're my babysitter? That could be fun."

Steve shook his head, grabbing her hand from him, "and we won't be doing this either. I love Margaret. I won't be playing this game with you."

Maggie exited her and Steve's room as she heard Maddy, "but Captain, I'm a super soldier. Don't you want to have sex with a super soldier?" Before Maggie could reach them she felt Bucky grab her arm, shaking his head.

Steve pushed her away, "I just told you. I'm not playing this game with you. And you'll be hard pressed to find anyone here that will. You're only here because we all love and respect Margaret. That's it. You should be thanking her rather than throwing yourself at me. Get dressed, I'll wait for you in the hall." He shut the door to her room seeing Maggie and Bucky watching him.

Maggie wrapped her arms around his neck before he could say anything. "I love you Steve."

He chuckled as he kissed her quickly before setting her down, "I love you." He looked at Bucky, "can you take Madelyn and show her around the compound? I forgot I have training with Shield agents. Don't let her out of your sight Buck."
