It's crazy that Aaliyah's back here in the flesh, I started to think that maybe she would never come back, before anything that will forever be my best friend, my other half in many ways. Seeing her in front of me made me acknowledge so much, time and memories are so important. Her not being here in Harlem for so long caused us to miss so many memorable moments together.
Before she had moved away she and I had a bit of a disagreement you could say before she travelled to London.
Flashback 4 years ago
"The fuck you need to go for London for Lee," Demetrius says with such frustration and passion in his tone of voice.
"Do you not want me to follow my dreams, huh let me know if that's how you feel instead of hiding behind the bush right now cause this shit is ridiculous, I've always supported you no matter what you wanted to do why can't you do the same".
"You're no fucking different from everyone else in my life ", anyone could sense the pain in Aaliyah's voice even if you didn't know her, she sighed deeply then took a seat on Demetrius's couch.
Her voice was cracking excessively furthermore it hurt Demetrius that his words and actions were the reason for all this.
Demetrius most definitely didn't mean to display his feelings to Aaliyah in a manner that would hurt her feelings or make her feel alone or misunderstood at the moment.
He just didn't know how to tell her that he needed her, he needed her words of encouragement, her support and most importantly her presents.
She was so understanding and excepting when it came is current or past decisions she always advised never forced when it came to anything, she carries so many motherly traits without realizing it.
"Nah Nah... I really ...Lee I'm sorry yo I don't ever want you feeling like I don't want you happy cause that's far from the truth, man it's just that I'm gonna miss you. I don't have this type of bond with anyone else in my life, you stay listening to me when I needed it most and if you're not here". He wasn't completely communicating what he was thinking either but he was only revealing the tip of the ice burg.
Demetrius was aware that his justification was selfish but regardless that's how he genuinely felt and for him not having her wasn't a feeling he wanted to get used to.
End of the flashback
After the conversation or more or so argument Aaliyah and Demetrius weren't on the best of terms, Aaliyah went to school regardless of how Demetrius felt. They went months without talking and that hurt Demetrius more than it did Aaliyah, he knew he had to reach out and fix things with her.
