Stormchaser stood in silence, to frightened to speak. The lilac dragonet was intimidating, not to mention, way bigger than her. It was weird, she couldn't hear any of her thoughts.

"Who are you?" The dragonet asked again, suspicion filled her gaze.

Stormchaser stood a little taller trying to look confident.

"My name's Stormchaser," she started. "Who are you?" W-what are you going to do with me?" Her confidence started to wear down when she saw the dragonet's gaze eyeing her off. But that changed when she looked at Stormchaser and smiled.

"I'm Shadowhunter," The dragonet grinned. "I'm on a patrol, apparently this is an assignment." she puffed her chest out with pleasure.

Stormchaser looked back at her father's body and shame fell upon her. I should have noticed that he was sick sooner.

"C-could you help me? I think my f-father i-isn't going to wake up from this sleep" Stormchaser asked Shadowhunter.

"O-oh," Shadowhunter answered, her gaze falling on Sleet. "I'm- so sorry. What would you like to do...?"

" I-I'm not sure, I t-think we need to return his body back to the earth."

After they finished burying Sleet, Stormchaser slid down to the ground and cold tears ran down her distraught face. Shadowhunter sat down next to Stormchaser and held a wing out.
Stormchaser sat up and collasped into her new friend's wing and quietly sobbed.

"Oh, what am I going to tell mother!" She cried.

Shadowhunter only sighed and said, "the truth."

"But how? How can I tell her!"

"However you feel is right." Shadowhunter soothed. "I should get back, Queen tropical will wonder what has become of me."

She stroked Stormchaser's back once more and turned around.

"And, Stormchaser, I'll always be here when you need me."
Stormchaser smiled and watched her new friend go.

When Stormchaser reached her home it was dawn. Dawn already? How long were we out? She took a step towards the door hesitantly. She stopped. Should I really go in, what will she think if I return without Sleet. Stormchaser took a deep breath, and mustered up the courage to walk into whatever doom lurked on the other side of the door.

When she walked in she saw Quickthought sitting at her desk writing something that Stormchaser couldn't see.

It worked! Stormchaser jumped, that was the first thought she had ever heard from her cold mother.

"So, you're back," Quickthought hissed. "Where's your father?"

"Why do you care?" Stormchaser snapped. In that moment, she realised that was the wrong thing to say. Her mother whipped around and glared menacingly at her daughter. An intense shiver ran down Stormchaser's back, it felt as if a bucket of ice was being thrown over her.

She growled. "Do you want to say that again?"
