"W- wait- shouldn't we think this through?" Stormchaser stuttered. Going back to the place where her mother was seemed like the height of the worst ideas.

"No, I am sure that this is what we need to do," Rainstar replied, "besides, if we don't get spotted, we won't get caught and you insane mother won't know we were ever there!" She said the words insane mother like it was a joke.

The thing is, Rainstar, it might not be a joke. Stormchaser longed to tell the princess that but refrained, knowing that it wasn't relevant.

"I mean," Shadowhunter began, "I can see the logic, but are you sure? I really don't want a repeat of the fi-"

"One time, Shadowhunter!" Rainstar protested. "One time I almost set the rainforest on fire!"

She almost she the forest on fire? that's what the smoke was a few years back.

"I know," Shadowhunter argued. "but, it only takes another mad experiment, gone wrong to have to face the consequences!"

"Three MOONS, Shadowhunter!" Rainstar growled. "It wasn't my fault! Macaw knocked it over not me!"

Stormchaser sat in confusion, her eyes bouncing back and forth, while the two RainWing/NightWing hybrids continued to snap and hiss at each other for a short moment. Stormchaser crept up on to her feet and while there was a breath of silence, she decided to end the nonsense.

"Enough!" She cried, loud enough for the whole rainforest to hear. The RainWings above them gasped. Seriously? Is there no privacy here? She glared into the seemingly empty trees with a snarl, the branches and leaves rustled over head as the eavesdropping RainWings scrambled to get away. "This snapping is not going to help! We need to stay focussed, my mother is planning- well, I don't know what, but it's not good! And the last thing we need is bickering!

Shadowhunter and Rainstar stopped scowling and stared at Stormchaser as if she had just started speaking scavenger.

Three moons! You would think that I've never been angry before!

Oh my gosh, she's amazing!

Once again, Rainstar's thoughts couldn't be ignored. Stormchaser gave her a confused look and she ducked her head in embarrassment. Stormchaser wasn't sure if her eyes were playing tricks on her, but she thought, if she squinted, that she could see Rainstar blushing slightly.

"Stormchaser," Rainstar said, sounding gob-smacked. "That was awesome, that is what we need for this! Your courage needs to be let out! Yes, that needs to happen!" Her eyes glowed with anticipation.

"Yes, you're sooo smart, Rainstar. Maybe you should decide what we need to do from now on!" Shadowhunter mocked.

"Lighten up, Shadowhunter!" Rainstar retorted. They glared at each other for a while.

Oh, moons above! Stormchaser cursed silently as she rolled her eyes.

"Come on, you guys! Just cut it out, you are not one year old dragonets. Right now, all we need to do is spy on my mother, like Rainstar said."

I never saw myself taking lead. She thought.

"Weren't you incredibly shy a moment ago?" Shadowhunter asked with a quizzical expression.

They flew off giggling as they traveled to Stormchaser's house.

It was dark by the time they managed to reach the house. It turns out, very much to Stormchaser's surprise, that when they, actually focus on something, Rainstar and Shadowhunter could be nice to each other. They started to make amends and were soon giggling and soaring along side Stormchaser.
