"And then Omen face dived into his dinner!" Stormchaser giggled.
Shadowhunter grinned. " How are they? Your new family members?"
"Horrible! Omen locked me out of my room on the first night! Now he's sleeping on my bed and I can't get back in to get my wooden bird carving!" She complained. "Erebus is just as bad as Quickthought! A stuck up snob! All he does is push me around like a slave! They don't even bother to hide their thoughts from me any more!"
"Then, why are you still there, why don't you leave?!" Shadowhunter's gaze was filled with concern.
Stormchaser's eyes darkened. "They- they won't let me. I have to sneak out to come here! Besides, if I left, Where would I go?"
Shadowhunter looked like she was biting back a response.
What is she trying to say? Shadowhunter had a way of hiding her thoughts. Stormchaser never tried to read her mind, it would be disloyal.
"Why don't you-" Shadowhunter fidgeted with her claws for a short while. "Why don't you come live with me? The RainWings would welcome you, you could stay with me and Princess Rainstar! Queen Tropical would be glad to have you."
"I can't," Stormchaser began. "I can't leave Lightning behind, or my bird."
"But-"
"I- I'll see you soon Shadowhunter. I have to go."
Stormchaser flew back to her house, she couldn't get Shadowhunter's words out of her head.
Is she right? Would it be better for me to go away? Stormchaser wondered. No, I can't leave her.
****
The morning light flooded through the bedroom windows. Stormchaser peaked up at Omen, still snoring like a hippo with a dry throat. She quietly sat up. That was the first night that Omen had actually let her sleep in the bedroom, and it was a horrible sleep.
Stormchaser gently lifted up the stone slab and grabbed her bird. She tip-toed out of the room and into the hallway.
"Little Stormdemon will try to stop us. She doesn't have the heart to do anything though." The words came out of Erebus's mouth with so much scorn that Stormchaser almost fell over backwards. But, what came next was even more shocking.
"Don't worry, once we kill my mother and her, no one will be able to defy us! Everyone will bow down!"
Stormchaser shot out of the front door, flying as fast as she could. She wants to kill me! I need to find Shadowhunter, she can help me. She weaved around trees and dodged all of the vines.
"Hey! Who are you? You're not familiar." A pair of vibrant RainWings appeared in front of her. one was pale blue and hot pink, the other was a dark blue, and in fact, didn't look all RainWing.
Another Rain Night hybrid? Could this be Shadowhunter's brother? Stormchaser realized that the two strange dragons were waiting for her to answer.
"I- I'm Stormchaser, I promise- I'm a friend. I'm looking for Shadowhunter."
"Well, Stormchaser, I am Dew, Queen Tropical's Husband. And this is Prince Tiger-eye, my step-son." The blue and pink Dragon said.
So he's not Shadowhunter's brother. He is the son of the Queen.
"You say you're looking for Shadowhunter?" Tiger-eye asked. "Why? How do you know her?"
Stormchaser jumped, she looked over her shoulder, to check that she couldn't see her mother. "I met her on the edge of the rainforest, we have been meeting ever since. I really need to talk to her." She said in a hurry.
"Hmm, we will take you to her, but, you better not be planning anything."
***
As they entered the RainWing village, Stormchaser gasped in awe.
"It is beautiful, isn't it?" Dew said.
"Very." Stormchaser agreed.
"I'll go and tell Queen Tropical that we have a visitor." Tiger-eye declared, with that he flew off.
"Come on, I'll take you to see Shadowhunter." Dew beckoned to a leafy dome a short flight ahead.
They flew to the platform where four dragons sat. Three of them unknown, but the last one was-
"Shadowhunter!" Stormchaser burst into tears, Shadowhunter came rushing over.
"Stormchaser! Are you ok?!"
"We- we need to talk in private." Stormchaser sobbed.
Shadowhunter turned towards the three unknown dragons. "Rainstar, will you keep playing with Honeysuckle and Squirrel?"
The dark purple dragon nodded her head and turned back towards the small dragonets.
"Come on, Stormchaser, we'll go out of the village to talk."
They flew to the outskirts of the village and sat down on a large rock.
"What was it you wanted to talk about?" Shadowhunter asked.
"My- My mother- She wants to kill me!"
