Chapter 23: Odette

Another execution, another innocent dead. It's all just part of the plan of whoever kidnapped us. I can't believe Alicia actually told us she saw Adanna killing Aadiv... Is she just insane now over Bailey dying? If so, then it's ironic, because Bailey was killed by Amani, who went insane after Elaina died. However, I get a bit lost in thought, and notice everyone is going downstairs. I can't find Lukey in the crowd, but I know I'll probably be able to locate them soon.

Everyone gathers around Adanna's room, and there's a basket full of balls, as well as some sort of collector. But that isn't all that there is... There's the dead bodies of a man with ginger hair and yellow fedora, and a boy with similarly colored hair and some large glasses. Jojo seems shocked, but I just pretend it isn't there... There's also a screen on the wall. How did that get there? The speaker turns on to explain.

''So, for our special round, there is this basket full of balls. If you look at them, you'll see they have your names on them. Each person will put theirs into one of the collectors, and only one ball will go into each collector by the end. If you were unlucky enough to choose one of the death collectors, you will die. I will name all the people who didn't choose a death collector in a random order first, and then I will tell you who will die. Have a good time! Also, I won't instantly name all the safe people at once, I'll name them every few minutes. So, you guys can have fun while waiting.''

I see Eduardo and Haneen's balls are already being taken by their owners, and more people begin picking them up. Eventually, I notice my name, and I grab it too. I put it into the first open collector I see that I trust, and wait. Soon, all of them are full. I suddenly hear noises, and the screen is showing a picture of a check mark, and a picture of Jian appears. Wait... How would they get a photo of Jian? He seems confused too. We all begin to spread out, and I soon hear a discussion.

''Alicia, you lied about witnessing Aadiv's death. Why did you frame Adanna? You have to be the killer.'' Becca seems confident in her choice, and I agree, but at the same time, she might just be deranged. I still think I'll vote her out next round, just so she doesn't get anyone else killed. I hear discussion among others, but then I hear the noises again, and now we see Mikah on the screen. This is going to take a while. Alicia just smiles, and Jojo slowly approaches her, but she doesn't move. I think she has accepted that she'll probably die at this point. Nobody moves for a while, and more people are confirmed to not die. Dan, Annie, Anna, Aria, and Mateo won't be dying today.

''I think we might have to vote her out. She could throw anyone under the bus, and I don't think she can be trusted.'' I decide to get my opinion out before the topic dramatically shifts like always. Veronica's face is on the screen as I say that, and Becca's appears when Nathan coughs and shares his opinion.

''Yeah, vote her out, let's move on. I just want to ask... What if the killer gets selected to die in this special round? What happens then? Does the game just end?'' I guess that's fair, but I'm distracted by Trey's picture on the screen, followed by mine. Thank god, I guess I'm not dying tonight... There's Melodie confirmed to live, then Aurora... Oh, and Zahrah too.

Prasiddhi lifts her finger up, and Amethyst seems to be silently urging her on. ''Well, maybe they rigged it that so the murderer knows which ones are safe? And even if they do get the deadly one, they select a random innocent. Because I doubt they'd really just execute the killer from a luck game and let us all go without us even figuring out it was them.'' I guess that's probable. Sadly, Alicia is the next one to be saved, and we all groan. However, Thomas and Riley come after, as well as Minji.

Veronica just groans. ''Listen, you guys can enjoy yourselves, but I think we should go back to discussing more suspects. I think it's Nikolai or Ben because they wanna be all like, 'Ooh look at us we're big strong men we think Tamia is the killer we're so smart' and shit.'' Lukey is the next one shown on the screen, which is good. I give them a thumbs up, and I watch as the list gets longer and longer. Coralie... Eduardo... Mila... Nikolai... This is going to be long, huh?
