Your name.

That's the first thing people ask you if they don't know you.

'Oh hey, what's your name?'

Today they will ask that question.

Because it's the first day at my new school.

I start to hear a faint buzzing sound, repetitive and unchanging. I focus on the sound as it seems to be growing louder and louder, pulling me away from my sleeping state. I slowly crack my eyes open and gaze at the stupid alarm clock which has rudely awakened me. 'Why did I set that alarm so early?' The thought crosses my mind but quickly disperses because I know exactly why it sounded at 7:30 in the morning.

Steadily climbing out of bed, I stand and open up the dark navy curtains that hang over the sizable square window. It faces east, so the window overflows with sunlight every morning.

I walk over to the tall birch dresser to my left and pick out a black hoodie with a single orange stripe that goes around the chest and some light gray jeans paired with solid black gym shoes.

I make my way to the tall mirror across my room and stand to look at the reflection staring at me. The one staring back at me with those cold and empty eyes, unable to convey the true emotions inside of himself. And for that I hate myself. I hate my face, my frail body, my messy bleach blonde hair, and my dull taupe skin. I already know everyone will hate me because I hate myself and it's already happened to me too many times before, since nothing about me is even likeable or approachable in the least. I already know that's how this day is going to end.

I pick up my black backpack situated neatly in the corner of my room and head down the stairs, descending to the first floor heading straight for the front door.

"Ah-bup-pup! Stop right there mister!"

Ah... How silly of me to think I could get out of eating breakfast under my mom's sharp radar.

"Get back here and at least eat some cereal!" she stated firmly.

"Yes mom..."

I let out a small sigh as I grab the milk from the fridge and some chocolate cereal, pouring an even amount of each in the bowl. I quickly cleared up the bowl and set it in the sink.

"Okay now! I'm going to school mom!" I shout as I start to head for the door.

"Not without a goodluck hug!" She squeaked cheerfully.

She bekons and wraps a protective arm around me, pulling me into a warm and loving hug. She whispers softly into my ear, "Have a great day sweetie... Don't let anyone make you feel any less special than you are, most importantly..." She pulls away slowly, keeping her hands firmly planted on my shoulders and gives me a soft, warm smile before letting go. She finishes her sentence by saying the words that have always trailed in the back of my mind, "Always be yourself, my dear December." I see a single tear slide down smooth light brown skin but quickly wipes it away with her palm and leads me out the front door.

"Don't forget to speak up if you have a question and feed your brain!" she said waving to me from the porch.

I chuckled lightly and blew her a kiss, exiting the gate and begining my walk to Denison Elementary.

Today is my first day of school, and today is November 1st so it's already started for a few months now. That in itself adds to my growing stress because it means people already know each other, and I'm the only one they don't. I'm practically already an outcast.

I get there in a matter of ten minutes find a crowd of students at the front of the school. I walk over to the crowd of what looked like the youngest students there, so I just waited in the line. The area became congested in an instant, it almost felt like we were in a bus filled to the brim with people. 'So suffocating' I mumbled under my breath. The bell rang after a few minutes at 8:00 and we all started to head inside, up the two step marble stairs and through the door.
