I wrote this story around 3 months ago, during my trip in the USA... And now I finally finished it 💕 It's just a short little story, but I hope you like it 💗

Andrew had just been woken up by the sound of his phone. Blinking a few times with his eyes in hope to be able to keep them open long enough, he tried to read the message he had received.
'Can you call me?' - Meredith
Andrew blinked a few more times, trying to wipe away the sleep before he read the message again. This time also realizing the three missed calls from her. And suddenly all he could feel was the worry bubbling up inside him.
He was on his trip to Rome to visit his family for some days. And he knew how much Meredith hated the fact of him being so far away, having to go by plane. He, himself, hated the fact not to be able to be with her. But they had talked, a lot, almost every day.
He hastily looked at his clock, calculating for a moment, only to realize that it was the middle of the night in Seattle. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, trying to find a clear thought in between all the thoughts that had started spiraling in his mind.
He took another deep breath before he glanced at the message on his phone again.
He didn't want to wake her up... he also didn't want to wait to call her back. What if something had actually happened?
It took him a moment to decide whether to write her first or call her immediately. But after going back and forth a few more times, he eventually started to type, quickly hitting 'send'.
'Are you still awake?' - Andrew
Almost instantly a small sign showed up, indicating him that she has received and read his message. And as soon as he knew that she was awake, he called her; he didn't need to wait long for her to pick up.
"Hey." He heard Meredith greeting him from the other side of the line almost whispering. And he didn't need to hear her say any more to know that she wasn't feeling okay.
"Hey." He started softly "What happened, Mer?" He added quickly, but gently, the worry audible in his voice, even though he tried not to let it take over completely.
"I-" She stopped before she even started, leaving them in complete silence.
"I'm... " She started again after some time. He heard her take a deep but shaky breath. Almost as if she tried to calm herself down. "I'm okay." She finished after another moment.
"Mer?" Andrew asked as he heard her sniffling in between the unsteady breaths. "Hey..." He started softly "It's going to be okay, Mer." He tried to assure her quietly talking to her, no idea what was really going on. The only thing he wanted in that moment was to be with her, to hold her and make sure that everything would be okay.
He noticed how she was calming down a little bit, the longer he was just there with her, telling her from time to time that whatever was going on, it would be okay; that she would be okay.
"Do you want to talk about what happened?" He asked her carefully once he noticed her breathing getting calmer and more regular again.
"Can you stay a little longer? Just being there..."
"Of course. I'm here..." He reassured her softly. He understood what she wanted to say, and he needed this just as much; to just know that she was there.
They stayed in silence for some time, just listening to each other's breathing, trying to find comfort in knowing that the other person was there for them even though they were thousands of miles away from each other.
