Chapter 40: "Those are pretty dark thoughts Yuno."

I was laying on my bed back at headquarters while looking up at my ceiling. Kicking my feet up in the air and humming a toon, I began thinking about our mission at the dungeon.

{Fighting along side Asta and Yuno was so exhilarating! *giggles* look at me using words like Klaus does. Then, I learned new spells and got a ton of upgrades. My relationship with Mimosa and Noelle got so much more deeper and I even got to meet another Black Bull member. Yeah, he's definitely got a screw loose up in his head but you know what, who doesn't at this point in time? And after all that, Klaus willingly apologized to Yuno, Asta, and I for his behavior and even told us that we are valuable assets to the magic knights regiment.}

Me: What an experience.

Pedaling my feet in the air, I let out a gleeful smile.

^'^When we returned back to base, Captain Vangeance allowed us to rest up for a week. That should give us plenty of time to rest and recharge. He also said if we wanted, we were more than welcome to visit loved ones while we could before more missions would arise. After the Captain told us the information about getting rest, he told us to head towards the infirmary where the doctor told us that he was beyond impressed by the recovery magic Mimosa had. However, because Mimosa used most of her magic on me and Asta, Klaus needed some assistance. Yuno needed some medical attention since Mimosa had absolutely no mana to recover his injuries. I would've healed Yuno but I too had no mana to help him. Fortunate enough, Yuno's injuries weren't too serious and was discharged the same day.

{Wondering about Klaus and mine's conversation? Well here it went.}

When we all exited the infirmary, Klaus took us to a private area where there was a lone picnic table with bush walls all around us creating a nature-isc kind of room. Flowers and grass filled the ground with a stone path way leading in and out of this "sanctuary". Klaus had us sit around the picnic table as we were ready to talk about the "elephant in the room". Yuno and Mimosa were both there as well. Letting out a cough to clear their throat, Klaus began to speak.

Kluas: Let's just get to the middle of this problem so we can begin our process of recovery.

He looked me dead in the eyes causing my body to produce bumps from the sudden chill that shot through my body.

Kluas: As mentioned, I am still quite apologetic for the behavior and commentary that I had expressed to you and your loved ones. Though it's difficult enough to apologize to a commoner, I want to extinguish the title and see you as an ally, a magic knight partner but most of all, a dear friend. We have definitely had a bad encounter at the beginning. I want us to trust and rely on one another. What is a squad if there is no harmony and some sort of "peace" within the individuals of the great Golden Dawn?

Me: *confused* Is that a question I should answer?

Yuno: No. He is just saying it to add some sort of commentary.

Klaus: *to Yuno* I do want to address that I am glad you have come along to hear about this discussion as it too applies to you.

Yuno: Look, I just want to make sure Vanellope is happy and safe is all.

Klaus: I may not be able to put a finger on you, Yuno but I do commend you for always wanting the best for Vanellope and that's what I strive to do with you three. I want to make sure you all become the most outstanding knights and astonishing members of society. Imagine, the three most stupendous knights and all top tiered individuals from the Golden Dawn, such a brilliant sight.

I wasn't sure what Klaus was trying to tell us but I can at least understand that he wants the best for us.

Me: Klaus. I can't thank you enough for wanting this for us "new years" but it's great to see that we have come to respectful terms.
