____________________________________"I remember when I met you just before September"
It was a warm sunny day in Outer Banks, North Carolina. Pope was walking with his second family to The Wreck to kindly ask Kiara's father for some lunch on the house. That's when he saw her, dancing in the streets to whatever song was playing through her matte black headphones, he was mesmerised by her every movement.
As Pope was deep in a trance, following Y/N's every moment, Kiara had noticed her friend acting strange as he stopped walking and was just looking at something. She followed to where his eyes were looking and then she snapped him out of his daze by coughing and then saying, "that's Y/N Y/L/N... she moved here from New York three months ago. She goes to the same university as us."
"Do you have her number Kie?", was all he could say as his eyes were still following every movement Y/N made.
"Do I have her number? She's my study partner at the moment with this environmental project we're doing", she explained as she looked at him dumbfounded... 'since when did Pope have any sort of confidence?', she thought to herself.
"Kie, can I pleaseee have her number??", he begged Kiara as his eyes were watching Y/N dance off to the distance.
Pope did end up getting her number off Kiara after he continuously begged her, in which she finally gave in. Pope messaged Y/N that night saying, "Hi, please don't think I'm some stalker but I got your number off my friend Kie and was wondering if you would have coffee with me? My name is Pope and I promise I'm completely sane."
As Y/N read the text message from the unknown number, she messaged Kie quickly to ask if she had given her number out to a friend named Pope and is this the same Pope that Kie always says she would be perfect with. As she waited for Kiara to reply, which wasn't long, she got the confirmation she needed and responded to the unknown number by saying, "hey, I've heard a lot about you from Kiara. All good things, I promise! Anyways, I'm free tomorrow around 10am if you wanted to grab that coffee?"
That's when it all began between the pair...
As Pope pursued Y/N for a year, he would've waited longer as he ultimately knew it would make the feeling stronger. The very first time Pope kissed her, he could look at himself in the mirror and like who he was.
However, the only time they really even got to spend time together was on the weekends as they were both flat out with their assignments from uni and even when Pope was studying, he felt like the weekend was years away so he would end up getting distracted by looking at photos of the two of them on his phone, smiling. She was all his strengths but also weaknesses as sometimes he would be in too much of a trance thinking about her that he make no progress on his assignments. However, she did battle his demons and was always undefeated.
The pressure of college did get to Pope at times and when he was jaded with an assignment as he had to work on it on the weekends he spent with her, he would look over at Y/N, who was already looking at him smiling and he hated that she did that but nonetheless, he'll still love her for the rest of his life.
The day Pope met Y/N's mother, Y/M/N, he was foolish as he got so nervous because she had that Irish charm but right then, he knew he loved her. He knew Y/N was the one when she walked him back to his car afterwards as that's where Y/N got her kind heart from, her incredible mother.
His crush on her never faded and his plan was to love her for the rest of his life.
Now, as they're celebrating their fifteenth wedding anniversary, he held her hand and asked her, "do you remember how we met? It was the summer of 2019 and you were dancing in the street. I begged Kie for your number and that's how it all began. By far probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. She never let me forget that I begged her but, as I'm sitting next to you right now, it has been worth every second."

I'm so glad that I've used this song for a Pope chapter. I believe he would be the best one to use this song for. I could even picture him doing this... and it makes my heart go pitter patter 🥺. He deserves the world and I hope he gets treated better in the next season.
